At first I was a bit annoyed with this meta, but I’m starting to enjoy it. In fact when I found this build I felt like I was playing a completely different game. In fact it feels like GW2 turned into a shooter game, but it’s pretty cool.

So I’ve been experimenting with almost every match up you could make with an engineer, and I’ve found something that I really enjoy.

Now I don’t think this build is for high tier pvp, it may have that potential with some tweaks, but right now it’s simply for fun, and if used correctly this build can be a lot of fun!

Anyways,

Equipment
Weapon: Rifle (aka the baby maker)
Rune: Melandru (reduced stun and condition with some extra vitality and toughness! wooie!)
Sigils:Air/Fire (dat damage proc)
Amulet: Marauder

Traits
Firearms:High Caliber (or heavy armor exploit for the swiftness, vulnerability), Skilled Marksman (or No Scope for the close targets, melee’s and maybe even condi rangers) Modified Ammunition (i’ve considered incendiary powder while bringing Balth runes, but Melandru is just too sweet)
Alchemy:Protection Injection (or invigorating speed for more dodges, but I believe protection is more important in this build), Backpack Re-generator works well with the regeneration that you get from the elixirs, however an extra invuln might be more helpful if you’re facing high burst teams, HGH for the cherry on top and addition to your utilities.
Tools: I found this to be the most helpful trait line. Power Wrench (or static discharge if you decided to bring rifle turret for the utility skill over and invuln and stealth which is very risky but very fun as well), Steamlined Kits (if you decided not to bring heavy armor exploits I’d suggest bringing this for the swiftness that you get everybody needs to move fast), Adrenal Implant (dodges man, dodges)

Utilities
Elixir H, Elixir B, Elixir S, Tool Kit, Elixir X

Usage:
Toss Elixir B before overcharged shot for a knock down and the beginning of a burst chain. That could be pry bar, jump shot, whatever suits your fancy.
Elixir S to avoid damage, and the stealth can help you escape or even burst an unsuspecting foe (that’s what he said)
Toss Elixir H vigor, regen, protection
Elixir X comes with Moa now, so if you need to blow somone up before they blow you up you can turn them into a moa and then jumpshot blunderbust the hell out of them and make sure that they don’t forget your name. You’re an engineer. Own it.
Tool kit is used for the block, the cc, and the pry bar. You don’t have condition damage so 2 doesn’t really help, but it is a nice little cripple if you really gotta run.

You also gain super speed when you swap to tool kit I don’t know if this is a bug but it’s h3ll@ awesome.

As I said this build may not be competitive but it is a whole lot of fun for unranked! It is difficult to get down, but your best friend will be LoS. Just play it safe, try not to fight on point too much, and condis are somewhat scary, but don’t let them immobilize condition feed you, and that’s pretty basic…

Dodge entangle… etc…

As far as testing goes, I’ve had luck against ele’s, mesmers, engineers, warriors, and thieves.

Through matches today I’ve found that this build has long enough stealth to escape from 3v1’s…etc

Pack Rune is also very deadly, and if you’re really feeling risky bring the new zerk amulet instead of marauder

Yep, Marauder and Tough runes are the go to for Engi now.

But Inventions>Tools imo.

I checked that line, but I’d rather go with a shield block and the vigor from using tool belt skills which you do a lot with elixirs.

Vigor being nerfed and invention packing quite a lot of sustain I think what you could use is another Kit in your utilities.

I just didn’t like the traits in inventions for this, I could see Mecha Legs being helpful, Automated Medical Response has been bugged for me, Overshield is pointless because you already have the protection, overshield doesn’t affect gear shield in the cooldown, and smokebomb is practically useless on 30s timer

I see inventions useful in a support build with all the outgoing healing you can give allies, but as far as the zerk goes I think you’re missing out by not bringing tool kit

I also think adrenal implants with the vigor stacks up to 100% energy regeneration, the +10% damage while endurance is full is pretty big if you’re on the outside of a fight you can do a lot of damage to the light armor classes.. etc with the baseline trait your tool belt skills have a reduced recharge which is also pretty big

But whatever suits you I guess, I also tried explosions but still I found tools to be more useful
