Hidden Pistols (Charr Racial) and Traits
They do not since it’s not a pistol skill
The Coated Bullets trait says pistol shots though, not pistol skills. Considering Sylvari Engineer racial turrets get benefits from turret traits you’d think so would the Charr :/
Look at it from a game design standpoint. Sylvari Turrets use the same mechanics as Engineer Turrets, hence the benefit. Hidden Pistols is a racial skill that has nothing to do with Engineer Pistols.
they don’t and that’s one of the things they need to fix. The only people who can use this toolbelt skill are the charr engineers so they need to make it work with piercing and bleeding traits.
While we’re on the subject (and since I can’t reach my computer because I’m at work), what are the toolbelt skills for all the racial traits? For now I’ll settle with knowing what the Hidden Pistol toolbelt skill is.
However, if people go the extra mile, they’ll be rewarded with seeing an extra happy bullcat.

The utlity skill is called hidden pistol. You fire one shot from a barrel hidden in the pistol’s grip and jump backward.
The toolbelt skill is called hidden pistols (plural) where you have one in each hand and fire a barrage from the hidden grip barrels. It’s basically a weaker version of thief P/P dual skill.
But traits generally don’t effect racial skills. A warrior or guardian’s shout traits for example don’t effect the charr racial shout, because if you notice the tooltip it’s not classifed as a shout like your class based shouts are. If any racial skill is getting trait boosts it’s likely a bug.

Same thing as with a trait like Shortfuse. Grenade Barrage and Big Bomb dont get their cd reduced because they arent classified under these kits but classified as a toolbelt ability. Hence points in Tools and the trait that resets toolbelt skills work on them, but Shortfuse does not.
Hidden Pistols would, i assume, benefit from traits that reset toolbelt skills. Aswell as Static Discharge and toolbelt-cd reduction.
Hidden Pistol(s) is simply not counted as a Pistol (the actual weapon). If sylvari seedturets work with turret traits i assume thats the real oversight. More likely because both are simply classified as a Turret.
Another little example is how pistol 1 (EXPLOSIVE shot) isnt a real explosive and benefits from none of the traits that effect explosives. Or how bombs and grenades arent blast combofinishers.
Because names and actual catagories are two seperate things.
This a fantastic skill that does about 2k+ damage and really stacks bleeds and vulnerability. Too bad we can’t put kits in our weapon slot because I’d love to use this skill.
