Holosmith Photon Forge?
here is how i observed it. This is my opinion so i am probably wrong but.
You have your 0 skill or ultimate skill (which is mortar kit elixir x supply drop)
and you switch that to photon forge.
Photon forge shouldn’t have a coldown or cast time. It’s supposedly like a kit or elemental attunement.
I think while you are in photon forge stance, you passively generate heat per second, and your f1 f2 f3 f4 skills are photon forge skills. These skills do great damage and stack even more heat on top of that. SO YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO HEAT basically if you hit 100 heat, you take a fatel dot / condition which quickly eats your health (at least i think it does) not so much an explosion but i could be wrong….
but you’re supposed to drop out of skill 0 (photon forge) photon forge kit (easy to understand) so you stop generating heat. And then if you are at a high heat when you’re outside photon force kit stance…..your sword abilities and utility skills (6 7 8 9 ) get bonus effects.
that’s how i think of this mechanic. I could easily be wrong and stupid, but i hope i provided a basic idea.
Oh and when you’re in photo forge kit stance thingy i believe you cant use 1-9 skills only use f1-f4 skills.
So that’s what i think.

Close. The heat generators are the Photon Forge skills that replace your weapon skills, not the toolbelt skills. Each PF skill shows a “Heat gained” percentage.

Not exactly. PF skills replace your weapon 1-5 skills. Skills 6-10 and toolbelt F1-F4 are still available immediately unless you have a kit slotted which then has a 6 second cooldown.

Exactly as Chaba said.
Once you activate PF you cannot use kits for 6 seconds. Your weapon skills become PF skills (1-5). Once you deactivate PF, you’ll have to wait 6 seconds (or 4 not sure) to be able to reactivate it.
However once you spec into holosmith, you will no longer have access to orbital strike and other F5 skills.

There’s still the mystery of the Orbital Strike animation from Aurora Peachy’s vod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nflQFIFnpVo
My wild guess is there’s some change to the Siege Rounds trait in Explosives line.

Woah what the hell was that? The character just stopped moving for 1 seconds and then orbital strike hit the golem, it didn’t even have an animation.
What I’m pretty sure A-net are gonna do with this xpac. Is give a HUGE revamp to all existing skills and mechanics for all the classes. So I don’t thjink we are gonna lose our current F5 skills, they might just be changed.

Well, you are an incredibly positive and optimistic person. Cheers.
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

Haha, doubt that. They’ve got their hands full with all the other stuff.

Now now, don’t forget there’s a few new mechanics coming to the game, and core classes will get them too – the Amunition/Charges system and Shield thing. I wouldn’t be surpsised if Gadgets will benefit from the Charges. Also, as several people pointed out on reddit , there is some weird stuff with Orbital Strike going on – possibly a rework to Siege Rounds.
Do we have a confirmation that core classes will get those new mechanics? I definitely hope that gadgets will be reworked. Orbital stuff is IMO just a bug.

The build ran in that video contains the trait “Siege rounds”, currently it makes orbital strike hit twice. Since there is clearly no casting of the ability and the fact that it only hits once, we got 2 possibilities:
1. Someone else is casting it from outside view.
2. They rewamped Siege Rounds.
The later is much more likely since we didn’t see anyone spam orbital strike on the other class videos. I only included this alternative because it is still a tiny chance. However, most likely they have changed the trait to cast orbital strikes on hit (maybe on crit like Aim-assisted rocket). I belive they have done this since Holosmith removes the F5 ability and they wanted a good explosives grandmaster trait to fit the standard power Holosmith build.
