How Strong are Engi's in Orr?
depends on your build and what you are farming. grenades are good but you might be swarmed depending on the enemies.
Engineers are pretty good for solo, but farming speed isn’t fast if you want survivability from my experience.
yeah survivability is an issue right now. Elixirs help but not much, we’re pigeonholed into using shields nothing else works well solo accept healing. (gotta have good gear and absolutely must have the kits cast spell when equipped trait attached.
I’ve got an Engi, Guardian, and Mesmer with full exotics and I would never farm Orr on anything but my Engi.
Rifle w/Grenade Kit is just too good. In my experience, front-loaded damage from the rifle is better for tagging enemies and finishing them off quickly than the pistol with its longer build up. The knockback is great for putting distance between you and enemies that are dumb. And the immobilize is the only control you can get on enemies with stability. I try to engage as many enemies as possible and just kite them while spamming Grenades for huge AoE damage (great for hitting everything during dynamic events).
I go back and forth between Bomb Kit and Tool Kit for my 2nd utility and Elixir R or Elixir S for my 3rd utility. Tool Kit and Bomb Kit provide each provide a snare and you get an AoE Blind or an Invulnerability to help you go defensive if you need to. They both provide decent damage as well.
My armor and weapons are Knight’s and my jewelry are Berserker’s. I wish I got more Berserker’s gear because I rarely go defensive or get hit.
On Engi I rip through Orr like a fat guy through a buffet.
Seriously.
I don’t know why people complain about Orr, on Engi I can solo some champion events by myself (Though obviously it takes some time)
Gkaare how do I find you to chat in game? Id LOVE to talk to someone who has both Eng and Guard as Im stuck between the two ( I know roll both, but I get HUGE wife aggro and only time for one ).
I’ve been farming a particular bit of Cursed Shore (specifically, the beach near Rotbeard’s ship) for a while on my Engineer, using a bunch of turrets. Only really check when I hear an unusual amount of turret activity, loot the doubledead, and return to doing anything else.
Don’t really like Orr, though. It might be the way that I blitzed through it to try to get to where I am, but it just feels…dense. There’s a lot of enemies, which makes sense – but their respawn is what causes issues for me, just as it does in most other zones. If I get swarmed, I stay swarmed, simply because more enemies spawned. Kinda feels like the Orr zones are meant to be zerged more than most other areas, overall.
Take bombkit elixir b and one other of ure choice go pistol main with ure traits 0/30/20/20/0 take pistol shots pierce then get agro of big groups and switch between bombs and ure pistol dropping all the skills u can if u play like I do u won’t have a problem taking 5-10 eenemy’s at a time and u will drop them in no time at all with out the risk of dieing easily
Overall it depends on your gear and skills. When I first got to Orr, the mobs would thrash me badly, I would try to run through enemies to get to a destination and they would freeze me, cripple me, pull me and burn me. Usually by the time things got desperate I would be fighting 4 guys on 50% HP and usually get ganked.
However once your gear improves and you get better at fighting the mobs, then engies can beast through the mobs with nades and such. I can sometimes fight 4 risen without having to call in supply drop or going into downed (and if I do go into downed, I usually have them on low enough HP that I can quickly rally)
I only have mastercraft gear, rare rifle and exotic chest piece but I slaughter undeads likes there no tomorrow. 30explo or 30 fire arms plus alchy&tools for EG goodness and backpack regenerator + kit refinement and I have no problems killing 1-5 undeads at same time or vet plus couple adds. I have 20k hp and 2200+ armor (cant remember exact number) and concentrating power/prec on rest stats with slight touch of cond dam + crit dam. Without kiting, just straight tanking, too much stress to kite when killing endless amount of mobs..
