How do you cycle skills?
Backpack made a video that is good and answers most these questions (in youtube). It doesn’t have elixir gun but egun is situational : use stun break, condi cleanse, poison and weakness when needed.

I just watched the video and that was very helpful, thanks for pointing me to it ^^
Just curious as it seemed to stick out to me, does he have Box of Nails set to autoattack? He always seems to cast it instantly when switching to toolkit or was that just like a super ingrained habit thing? Should I be using Box of Nails every chance I get?
Use nails when ever you benefit from them. Cooldown is short but no use to cast it if no enemies are around.
1/2. it really depends, I know poison grenade will help with downed body pressure and cleaving but I also know that it will inhibit healing specs/warriors I like to save the blind grenade for defensive reasons, shrapnel grenade I allways try to use when it’s off CD it hits hard and the conditions are amazing and follow it up with a freeze grenade, assuming I land those 2 i should more then likely be able to drop a barrage with little to no problem and landing those 3 together is huge damage output with the right traits, as for the eg and tool kit aside from blasting your ht with acid bomb and magnet into prybar there really isn’t much else to using them, throw wrench is great for fight ranged/running away opponents as it does good dmg and cripples so you can get in close, something I like to do that not a lot of people I see doing is following up overcharged shot with the eg stun breaker since overcharged shot is a really long knock down activating your stun breaker gives you heaps of time to unleash heaps of damage but it does use up your only stun breaker and whilst it can be effective make sure you plan out how your going to use it and remember a lot of other people will probly use a stun breaker after your first overcharged shot.
3. depends on the enemy, most of the time I won’t use nades auto but things like mm necros and turret engineers can be quickly delt with from the aoe of nades, when your assaulting a point you can also more easily land them from range because you know your enemy’s intentions is to not let you decap and the range of nades can keep you at a safe distance and harass your enemy enough to give you a great advantage.
4.aside from bombkit making a mess of anything melee and specific kits filling roles in particular builds like ft in decap builds there isn’t much more to them aside from changing how you approach a fight.
nades almost always
TK for #5 + #3 combos or #4 for running away.
EG for combo-blasting / healing / condi-reset on allies
and pistols/shield for #2 + #3 spamming, stomp-prevention and further combo blasts.
also #5 works nicely to interrupt 100 blades and other chained skills. Most hilarious when used on a blinking guardian that tries to GS burst you. Say hello to my nades.
I run a rabid Condi engi with two kits and elixir s. Bomb kit + tool kit is what I run mostly, switching in jades depending on the situation. I like to lead off with 2 skill on the pistol as it expires any aegis/blind that has been previously applied, as well as getting a nice poison on the enemy to dampen regen or healing. Usually I’ll get a burn and torment proc from that. Then I use the 3 skill for some average confusion and blind for whatever lead skill they use.
Where I go from there is dependent on the class. I’m going to use guardian and ranger as my two samples as they exemplify the ranged and melee aspects of the game.
Guardian: after getting the static shot off, they will usually use their greatsword leap and go into a combo. I usually switch to TK to drop caltrops and smack them with pry at as they leap in so their the confusion wrecks their face off while they spam skills. I’ve found that if I continue to dodge, I can maintain +75% health in any melee combo. After TK, I drop my blind bomb then the fire and confusion bombs. This should get some nice conditions on them. Kite around the burn/blind field you have created. By this time the poison shot and static shot on the pistol should be recharged. Blow through those then drop the TK caltrops and pull them to get cc. In this break, I usually use my heal as I am around 75% health and like to remain as high as possible. That rotation should kill them.
Ranger: The range they have is annoying. Depending on the situation, utilize the opening pistol rotation, the be ready for a rapid fire. The shield 4 skill is good for countering that and usually gets some decent burn/torment procs off of crits. They may use their knockback in themselves and you will have to use shield 5 to block the rapid fire after that. It will give a nice stun. In this stun, you can rotate straight into TK rotation. You use the pull into the prybar then drop caltrops. Next you use the glue bomb to root the ranger then spam all your bomb before he tries to get away. Next, use all of the pistol skills and they should be dead. I almost always win against rangers without dropping below 90%.
Of course, these rotations need to be modified per build per profession, but I encounter zerk Longbow Rangers and whatever the guardian meta build is. Last note: THIEVES! Cc+bombs=EASY WIN!!!
Anyone who says there is a set pattern for what you should do in a certain case is wrong. Learn the skills and rotate through them properly depending on the situation.

“there is a set pattern for what you should do in a certain case”
“Learn the skills and rotate through them properly depending on the situation.”
Can you tell me what the difference between these two sentences is?
Because for me it really does sound that you disagree with yourself instantly in the next sentence…

Pretty much this, though there a cycle to go through when you are freely casting and trying to maximize DPs.
