Ive read on metabattle that the current meta build for Engie is the Soldier Rifle one. It utilizes Sigil of Intelligence as a source of burst.

Problem is, you are supposed to time the burst by proccing the sigil before the combo if i get it right, and tbh I have NO idea how to control the sigil to proc when i want it to.

From what I gathered, it seems to proc alot more than its 9-second recharge would make you believe, still it sometimes procs when i enter a kit, sometimes when i come back to rifle… I dont get it. Are all equipped kits and rifle main weapon considered SEPARATE for the purpose of the sigil? So both coming back to the rifle, entering Tool Kit and entering Nade Kit proc the sigil separately and each has 9 sec recharge?

If not, can someone please explain how it works?

There is only one cooldown and it is triggered on enter/exit from a kit. Works exactly like a weapon swap.

If you equip a kit, that’s a weapon swap.
If you unequip a kit, that’s a weapon swap.
If you swap from one kit to another kit, that’s a weapon swap.

Since engies have essentially no CD on weapon swaps, if you’re rotating kits, you get on swap effects basically every 9 seconds. It may seem like it happens more often than other classes because you have the same sigils on every kit. So to get a similar rate of intelegence procs on another class, you need to have intelligence on both of your weapon sets and not just one.

Quick example, you start with rifle, attack something to get in combat you switch to bomb kit, et voila your next three hits will all crit.

Works the otherway, too. Start in Tool Kit, magnet > prybar an enemy, drop kit and the Sigil will proc, you use Jumpshot at point blank range the launch crits, the landing crits; that’s two stacks used. Your next hit, whatever attack you use, will be the last guaranteed crit.

Make sure they’re big damage skills to get the most out of this sigil. Remember tho it has an ICD so even though you can swap kits fast, you’ll only get a second use once the ICD has run it’s course. You’ll have to mentally time it, to get the most out of it.

Such a helpful community

Thank you guys for the detailed explanation. Seems like it has a bit more of a learning curve, that build. Like we dont have enough micromanagement already
