How many kits do you normally run with?
1 kit. there arn’t enough kit skills that you need every single fight to justify passing over the stronger utility skills for.. you also want to trait into you main weapon and multi kitting cuts into that strength.
I use two personally, the Elixir Gun (ranged) and the Flamethrower (melee). And then Elixir B as my final ability for reliable buffs.
I’d suggest going into the Heart of the Mists and trying out all the skills for free, though. I found that Elixir Gun/Flamethrower worked better for my playstyle than grenades and bombs did, but there are engineers who swear by them. The right kits are whatever kits you feel you need to get the job done.
3!
Med, Grenade and Bomb.
Permanent swiftness boost in pve
Depends on what I am doing. I like the tool kit for another ranged damage attack with “throw wrench”. I like bomb kit for BoB damage and control, and I like the bomb kit for melee damage. Almost always the med kit.
depends.
in PVE, i run either 3 or 4.
in PVP, 2. sometimes, i use the med kit instead of the turret.
I switch around, i usually use one, the grenade kit, but in group situations i’ll whap on an elixir gun for condition removal. My healing may not be through the roof but its only a slightly longer CD for fumigate then an elixir specced support hero.
Two – Grenades and Elixir Gun.
Three.
Toolkit, flamethrower and Elixer gun. Any utility skill that only has two total uses is a waste of a slot in my personal opinion.
Four Kits – Med Kit / Flamethrower / Elixer Gun / Tool Kit
I love my build sooo much!
Most two so I can do the speedykits. Depending on the situation either grenade/bomb kit and med kit.
PvE 1. Flamer or elixer Gun.
PvP 2. Elixer Gun & Bombs
WvW 2. Elixer Gun & Bombs or Grenades (depending on if you are near a keep or not).
1, any more is ineffective.

I find them really clunky and have a hard time using them more effectively(/funly) than my pistol/shield.

All Elixirs, all the time!
Ouroboros Protocol [OP] – Dragonbrand
2 bomb and grenade kits for massive dmg, in dungs I swap one sometimes for elixir gun that is the best support for me

none cause i dont want to lose my stats in Fight
[Skol]
I generally run 3 kits, with my heal reserved for the dispenser/“healing turret”.
My keyboard input is setup specifically to swap weapon sets with ease on an Engineer. Synergizing the skills of multiple weapons in seconds is an amazing experience!
o, as condition build in pvp i actually rely on the condition applying spells of my pistols… i cant yust switch to a kit because ill kinda lose the condition apply

In PvP, 0-1 (Though, that one is the tool kit and I use it just for the toolbelt skill mainly :P)
In PvE, 2-3 I always take grenade and bombs, and sometimes go for elixir H, sometimes for med kit. Depends.
From my experience though, the ‘weapon’ kits are not ever worth it.
1 – grenade kit.
0. some kits work well but it is too much of a hassle to use them most of the time.
It depends on the build and situation. Typically I run 1-2 kits.
Namely tool / grenade or tool / bomb. In certain situations like keep defenses where I do not need to worry about CC I might use tool / grenade / elixir gun.
But I run heavy tool / power builds, and I typically have a lot of group support as well. It let’s me cut things like a CC break out of my build to free up space.
I tend to run 0 as well.
In water I have ’nades cause they are stupid good, and in groups I will use the elixir gun at least, but on my own, PvE speaking, I normally run Elixir Heal, Personal Battering Ram for another knockdown, rocket turret for a decoy if I am in trouble, and elixir B for buffs. I run pistol shield, and feel like with that setup I can control most any battlefield
in pvp.. 0.
in pve.. 1, maybe 2 at times.
