I’m recently planning stat distribution for my lvl 80 set, originally I was gonna use full Berserker pieces, but now I wonder if I should mix in some Knight pieces, which exchange Critical Damage for Toughness.

This is what my build looks like btw:

It’s a PvE build, so some stat won’t be exactly the same.

This is just my opinion but I’ve found that going all in one way or another works best for engineers. Sitting around at halfsies with stats just makes you weak in both stats.

My advise would be to go all knight on armor, and all berserker in jewel’s, crit dmg stat on armor is not that great in my opinion, but I just hate class cannon type of build. Downside is that you don’t get primary power attribute on you armor, ++Power +Toughness + Precision would be perfect.

Also, your link is bad and you should feel bad.

You don’t necessarily need to be entirely Toughness to not be Glass Cannon. I’ve found that a Pistol/Shield gives you excellent survivability.

2000+ armor is a decent place if you have 20k+ HP. In my experience 1000 toughness is equal to about 2000-3000 HP as far as direct damage mitigation, depending on the attackers power. Keep in mind though, toughness does nothing for condition damage.

For some reasons it’s shown as Bad link even though I used the correct linking format…

My build is:

Rifle + Healing Turret + Elixir Gun + Tool Kit + elixirs + Elixir X

20 Firearm – Rifled Barrel, Hair Trigger
20 Alchemy – Fast-Acting Elixir, Protection Injection
30 Tools – Kit Refinement, Power Wrench, Adrenal Implant

x6 Superior Rune of Melandru (165 Toughness, -25% Condition/Stun Duration)

Double Super Elixir for condition removal, Jump Shot + Acid Bomb for positioning, Tool Kit for instant crippled effect on swap and the awesome shield skill.

If I used full Knight pieces for armor, reducing 16% CritDamage I get 315 more Toughness, does that seem more worth it for this build?

P.S. Can’t use my PC right now, such a pain to type and edit everything using iPod -.-

It is a good link. You just have to copy/paste it, because the forums site messes with links a lot of times.

Personally, I don’t like the -25% cond/stun at all. Most stuns are 2-3 seconds, so you get absolutely nothing out of it unless you hit 50%. unless you get hit with 4s+ of cond./stun it does nothing for you because it works in increments of seconds when it comes to adding or subtracting duration of conditions and CC. I do like the toughness though. I would go with something that offers more consistent benefit, but that is just my take on it. By all means, it is important that you wear what you feel works, based on your experiences.
