How should I be gearing for the Xpac? (PVE)
Since Anet don’t plan to nerf burning atm. I would recommend to get Sinister set.
Power/Condi engineer, atm does:
- Highest dps in the game after 14 seconds of battle (raid bosses, and tougher enemies in expansion won’t die so easly like in dungeons, so this build going to be top damaging one).
- Lost of enemies in Verdant Brink has Tough Bark ability, which reduces physical damage taken (anti-zerk) but takes normal damage from conditions.
- With increased condition durration you can weaken your enemy in various of ways which standard power build can’t do: perma chill, cripple, blinds, lot’s of immobilize.
Condi engie seems way to go in HoT… if they don’t decide to nerf burning
I wonder if you could switch out your set well enough by the use of trinkets. Since that is much cheaper and easier.
Just use berserker armor, since the defence will be the same regardless the stats. And get the stats from jewelry and be some sort of hybrid. I’d be happy with this. Maybe my ascended ring drops will finally come in handy.
I think I’m going to take both suggestions. Right now all of my accessories are zerkers ascended, so I’ll probably keep them on and switch my gear to sinister.
Actually is sinister too much of a glass cannon too? Before this I was eyeing rabid(condition dmg/precision/toughness). If I’m partying with mitigation is that overkill on defense?
Condi does seem better because of the tough enemies so far in VB.
With that said we don’t really know how the hammer will perform or how the meta will shake out.
I’m thinking for raids something like mixing 2 of Valk/Cavalier/Zerk/Knights depending on Vit/Toughness needs. Maybe even Carrion/Rabid/Dire for condi tank.

I’d recommend stockpiling the required mats or boxes and crafting what looks the best a week or two after launch, rather than making a best guess now and wasting craft or conversion mats/tokens/gold down the track.
For dungeons you can still safely use zerk there are no changes there. But now with IB nerf I see in meta much more space for sinister builds witch have beside current IB best dps in game.
Fractals are pretty much same but we dont know what higher dificulty will add.
Raids looks like will be great to have more then one set on hand. Its very easy change stats now so just do some preparations and you can change stats lated. Its cool that Sinister is actualy cheapest to make.
