I give up. Please help me find a build.
I can’t tell you what is “meta” or not, and I certainly can’t tell you what is optimal. But what I can do is assure you that I felt the exact same way before coming to the engineer. I’ve since gotten sick of the build myself, simply due to overuse, but it may work for you. So it’s yours.
You don’t need to use the same armor prefixes as I do. But if I was pressed I’d recommend magi’s stuff with jewels and runes that give a bonus to condition damage. Use the pistol/shield combo for defense and stacking conditions. Most of your time however will be spent in your kits. The flamethrower is used for might stacking, stay in it long term so you build up huge stacks to compensate for the lower direct damage. At later levels it is almost obscenely easy to get a full 25 stack of might. You’ll need to keep your crit rate up too; as the flamethrower is used to trigger on-crit procs from your sigils and traits.
Next to that you’ll be using your Elixir Gun for party support. Use fumigate to wipe conditions from your “front line” when in a party and maintain poison. Use elixir F on cool-down for almost perma-cripple on everything. Your auto attack will be used mostly for perma-weakness on priority targets. When you need damage just run right up to your target and drop acid bomb, or save it for an escape. Finally keep tossing super elixir right on top of primary targets like bosses. Don’t try to use it as an emergency heal; its cool down is low enough that you can keep it up regularly enough to maintain a healing field around tough foes to keep your frontline healed. They….well they won’t thank you for it, but the difference in effectiveness will speak for itself.
Now your elixirs; with fast acting elixirs your healing skills will come off cool down very rapidly, meaning you’ll rarely be without a heal. HGH and Cleansing Formula 409 will make your elixirs both awesome condition removal skills and help with might stacking. Toss them out mostly to help keep conditions off your party. Use elixir B on cool down to keep yourself buffed up throughout the fight.
As far as the elite skill; feel free to change it out for anything else. Supply Crate is the most useful, hands down, but I like elixir X for those times when it actually does turn me into a tornado. Sucks in PvP, but against swarms of weak mobs in PvE it is great.
This build isn’t perfect, and it isn’t “optimal.” But I’ve been using it for about a year now and haven’t gotten any complaints in dungeons are whatever, so it gets the job done. Just don’t link it in chat; the min/max players will verbally abuse you without even giving you the chance to prove yourself.

From the little PvE experience I have in explorable dungeons only, it’s either you run supporty/hybrid and finish the dungeon in 30 minutes, or run berserker and finish it in 15 minutes. Obviously, build enough survivability for the encounter, but why not contribute to doing the dungeon faster? Conditions kind of flop for PvE, too.
So, my suggestion, based on that, is to grab some full berserker gear, slot grenades & rifle, and have a 30/x/x/x/30 build.
If that sounds unenjoyable, just build as tanky or as offensive as you like – with whatever kits you like. Forget the forum troll build snobs. Nobody will be able to call you out if you’re not dying, and you’re contributing plus or minus what needs to get done.

I would argue that running a “support” spec does contribute to completing dungeons faster. Remember that the Guardian-Warrior-Mesmer group composition is dependent on Guardians and Mesmers taking projectile walls, Stability, condition removal skills, etc. etc.
They’re playing “support” roles, as many Engineers like myself do. Just not in the sense that I sink 30 points into Inventions, trait for Elixir-Infused Bombs, and pretend that I’m playing a Monk. My Guardian offers condition removal, projectile walls, Fire fields, Aegis, and Stability. He also hits for 3K a swipe with his Sword.
There are a lot of ways that one can be supportive of one’s allies while still wearing Berserker gear. I prefer Altruism runes over Scholar on my Engineer because I think it creates a larger net gain in group DPS than Scholar does selfishly for oneself, but I also believe in crazy things like letting Warriors maximize their DPS while I cleanse conditions for them.
If you want to quantify numbers with Baby’s First Adventure CoF p1, I guess that 5 DPS-over-all oriented builds are ideal. But if you’re running PvE content like Tequatl, Temple of Grenth/Balthazar, TA F/U, CoE, Arah, or Fractals, everyone is wearing as much DPS gear as they can survive with but still keep supportive roles in mind—a direction that ArenaNet continues to emphasize as they expand PvE content.

You can try my pure dps build in dungeons:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/PvE-Dungeon-Speedrun-Zerk-Build/first
Tekkit’s Workshop
this my dps build for dungeons (no fractals no wvw) and general pve is very similar to Rozbuska build have less presc/crict but a litle more of vit and self-regen

NOTE: if you see that the party is noob or bad pug always change some berseker for soldier coz if you use full berseker 100% chance you gonna die easy.
my wvw is the same trais 30/0/0/20/20 just change number traits, skills and armor

hope you get some ideas with this

Almost all the ones posted in the Build thread are outdated.
I suck at theorycrafting. I posted a build here last night and it got torn to shreds. I’m sick of my Engineer feeling useless and every time I try to build something, I just end up wasting money and then everybody tells me what I was doing is stupid and flawed.
So I’m done. I’m done trying to make my class work for me. All my ideas suck and it’s apparently impossible for me to come up with anything that’s good.
All I want is to be helpful in PvE. Control/support/whatever. I want to be a helpful member in a dungeon.
Give me a build. I don’t care what it uses as long as it works.
Basicly your build wasn’t bad. I just pointed out what you can improve but u act like a girl. As you can see from the answers above there is no meta for engineer. And some builds posted here are definitly more improveable then yours. For Equinox’s builds I can name much more improvements than I can for your build in the other thread. Just don’t take it personal. If you share your build u must accept if someone does not agree with it.
Here’s a build that I just made real quick. It should have the things you’re looking for:

Healing Turret and Elixir Gun for healing your allies, Shield and Throw Mine for control and blast finishers, and Toss Elixir R for reviving allies. Rune of Grenth I choose because it combos very nicely with Healing Turret.

Sorta curious what this statement is meant to imply. I can make assumptions, but I would rather see you explain this for yourself.
PvE build? Yeah that’s easy, just run support.
Full clerics gear, runes of altruism, pistol (sigil of battle), shield (sigil of bloodlust), roll with Elixir Infused Bombs trait (30 Inventions) and at least 20 in explosives for Enhance Performance trait (use Med Kit). Throw the last 20 points wherever you feel like it, though I’d recommend Alchemy.
Hit like a truck, support like a BOSS. PvE will be your kitten…or female dog.
I love my fractals ?? I run celestial gear with divinity runes =p so I can do everything/anything. Mainly though I support with my vul from my nades and I “splash everyone one lots” ( water field bast ) ^^
I prefer my PvE to be Power based DPS.
I’ll use a 10/30/0/0/30 Rifle/Static Discharge build. Easy to run without a ton of micromanagement. For best DPS try to hit Rifle3 n 5, TK3, EG4 and Toolbelts on cooldown. EG4 is good on stationary targets, otherwise run PBR or Goggles.
Or
I run 30/10/0/0/30 Bombs/Grenades n Static Discharge. This throws out a good amount of Vulnerability. Switch to Rifle for 3 n 5, TK for 3 and use your Toolbelts for damage. Grenades aren’t the easiest but they keep Vulnerability going. Switch to Bombkit and trait for them for easier damage also.
Both builds do competetive damage. Grenades/Bombs will help the party out a bit more with Vulnerability.
If Zerker is too squishy try Knights armor n orbs.
