I should mention this is aimed at new players to guild wars 2 and new players to the engineer but not new to the game. the troubles of posting at midnight.

fun fact before they changed it so back items show up wearing a kit there used to be a bug where if you used your main weapons auto attack skill and then equip a kit half way into the auto attack cast bar it would bug out and your back item would show up. this lead to the current state of kits.
only now it works only when in combat. swaping to a kit out of combat does not show up the back item on your client.

Yes, we have all known about this for a while. It’s the closest we are ever going to get, probably, to being allowed to enjoy an awesome backpiece.

and new black wings disappear when equiping/disequiping kits
