If they fix the eng kits so that #1 is an auto-attack, then shouldn’t the FT be one continuous plume of fire coming out? Every tenth shot could be the burn just to make sure people get the extra 1 sec burn.

It’s not a single attack like other eng kit #1’s are.

All kits except the grenade kit and med kit are capable of autoattack—you just have to turn it on every time you switch to the kit with ctrl+right click. I doubt they will change the flamethrower’s autoattack in any way.

That’s the problem. It’s not an actual auto-attack if you have to manually turn it on everytime you switch kits.

But that’s not the topic I starting here.

Back to the actual question: Steady plume or just 2 second burst?

It does feel weird having to fire in bursts. But if that happened please god turn down the noise, I’m slowly going insane as is.

How would the change effect damage output?

it wouldn’t but, you can actually jump right back into a fight after a down instead of running around like a chump while you sort that out.

Are you referring to the loss of the kit while in the down state or when entering water, or other numerous instances?

You realize he meant there’s an actual autoattack for the FT. You have to toggle it on once inside the kit and then it’ll just continue to spam 1 for you
And the autoattack is like pressing 1 over and over and over again ;D

Based on them old videos of soldiers using flame throwers, they seem to use it in bursts. My guess is so they can see and/or to conserve the fuel.

if you ctrl + right click it sets auto attack on, while this can be done with all powers, it only really works with ones that have no cooldown. (powers wont auto-cast after the cooldown is done)
If yor ctrl+ left click it will place that power into the chat log for every one to see. This why you will have people randomly saying there powers in /map out of the blue. Why this is even a function is beyond me. shift+click will place it in your chat bar, but not auto-send it. This seems to be a better option all around.

It’s been stated that the need t manually turn on auto-attack for engineer kits is a bug and is being worked on. I forget where I saw that but you can probably find it in the Dev Tracker.

It’s not a bug; it’s a design flaw. The issue has existed since the beta. It’s hard to believe it’s a bug at this point rather than a poor design decision to disable autoattacks on all kits.
