I love rifle, and this is only in sPvP!

btw in sPvP 100Blades will hit for around 15k! but in PvE/WvW ( there are actual pictures ) 100Blades can hit up to 42k, so killshot should be around 45-50k every 10s, 1,500 Range

fun fact: 100nades used to hit for around 14k! more or less it was only more complicated and you needed to do stuff like get on melee range, set up, aim and all of that boring stuff

hahah, it’s got a 1,500 range so i’ve been sniping, but if 1v1 i’m using bow, it has a 4s immobalize that applies 6 15s bleeds! 25s recharge! and #3 hits for around 9k in case killshot/volley, dont get the job done!

even if he’s hitting for 50k (which he’s not).. its the same as hitting for 25k in almost every scenario.

and thats in berserker gear. a warrior in berserker gear using a bow and rifle is as free a kill to so many many many different builds and classes as you can possibly get.

i agree the engi has some issues and i’m glad OP found a class he likes. but if i had to bet on a skilled zerker bow/rifle warrior and a skilled engi in a 1v1 i’m not sure i’d bet on the warrior.

Ran the numbers on that once. And about the only way to get 20k was if attacker had max power, crit chance and bonus, while the target was virtually naked (around 1000 armor).

Someone must have been very competent with that image editor or were hitting a defenseless critter.

Edit: dug up the image and info on the related build. And apparently the numbers are possible. But he was really pushing it. He had 24 might and 25 vulnerability going, never mind the banner and trait additions to damage output, and the mob was apparently sporting around 1900 armor.

Given some of those additional conditions a warrior may be able to push 25k on a kill shot against a soft target.

heheh it’s not surprise, even warriors I play with are amazed, and the pictures were not edited just cropped because i doubt anyone would wanna see the clutter from the dmg logg

look at that 17,937 i hit on that ranger! imagine if blunderbuss did that!!!

if i set it up, and get some vul on target and 25 might i think i could push over 20k on sPVP, if the person you looked it up from had 25k on sPvP, my respect, but if it was anywhere else.. he was using a complete wrong build.

Heh, would only happen if you could instantly convert the bleed damage into direct damage.

Even tho they knew about the server limitations, ANet designers seems to have liberally sprinkled condition damage across the skills.

Don’t knock it ’till you try it. Axe/shield + Rifle offers more options than traditional 100b builds.

If you want the “lol-big-crits” you can drop the defense of shield and go axe/mace: #2 + #4 skills to stack vuln on target (can use “on my mark!” too), #5 for knockdown, swap to Rifle for kill shot. Sigil of intelligence on rifle guarantees crit on kill shot when you swap.

Honestly I intended on being a Rifle Warrior when I first played this game, and after playing it I’d rather play an Engineer. So we have very different opinions on this. Kill Shot will land just fine in hotjoin, but against anyone competent it just isn’t going to happen.

I think it’s a response to the way the latest patch reduced the diversity of Eng builds.

Despite being committed to the Eng class (as evidenced by their posting in the Eng forum), more Eng players than usual are finding the benefits of other classes to be even more attractive than before (as evidenced by the increased number of those posts).

- You know a class is headed in the wrong direction when an increasing number of its own fanboys start posting about the appeal of other classes.

I only posted to show the damage I wish our rifle and 1/2 of our weapons would have, but if you want more to this you could simplya take it as this build, 1 skill, 1 shoot 1 kill that hits harder than 100 nades on 1,500 range, 10s cd still exist while 100nades was physically deleted from the game.

and in tPvP is really not that hard, at all.. If you have trouble hitting target bring short now and #4 immobilizes for 4s and applies x6 15s bleeds and #3 is an AoE with huge radios that hits for 9k’s. perfect for thief and mesmers, it works just fine and 1 shots most clases, it’s just hard cause people are people are so use to tank and spank gods

I still love engineer and would rather quit before leveling another char, Js

Kill Shot is very effective in WvW zerg situations and can indeed one shot players ( into down mode or from down mode to dead anyway ). In a 1v1 Rifle Warrior is bottom of the pile though. The two big hitters are easy to spot and evade.

google is trolling the engi forum by claiming to have found a new super ability, and how he needs to keep this ability secret because anet might nerf it.

So what? Anyone knowing the Killshot skill and a bit of knowledge won’t be caring one bit about that, just leave the guy be with all his “secrets”, everybody knows already.

I didn’t miss the “troll”-post, and I just said that Anet doesn’t want us to be close to the utility, the damage, or the support the designed classes can bring, the removal of 100nades wasn’t because “Noone should be bursting for 24k damage”, it’s because “Engineers shouldn’t be bursting for 24k damage”. If that build was strapped on a Warrior they wouldn’t even look at it.

I bet my hand that the Burns or the Static Discharge will take a hit as we still have a good burst and that our Condition Damage is superior.

That’s kinda the point of the post. You mentioned 2 strong Engi skills (not OP at all) but they’ll be nerfed cuz not only can we not be top damage, we apparently can’t be any damage.

this post can be interpreted in many ways, but yea.. every update it seems more and more than engineers are not suppose deal damage, provide support/utility or be reliable, and like you said

myself, like many others are getting tired of so much nerfs and attemps to bring us down as class, even tho i can still stand my ground in sPvP. i’ve never felt weaker as an engineer.

In PvE, the damage no longer stands to a point where people can notice it, it just mixes, people aren’t gonna be like “wow, engineers have so much damage” or “didn’t know engineers could do that” and without the double SE, support is gone.. even tho it wasn’t much, you felt useful to your team when you would see bunch of small green numbers over their head, or when you’d cure a condition they weren’t expecting. but now, it feels we’re just there to fill the gap, feels like we could be easily replaced by anyone who can deal damage.

people will argue, that SD still does a lot of damage, and yes, it still does.. but i miss playing smart. and not just a 123 rotation, same with HGH.. i’m aware the build is great, it can make enemies cry, but.. I don’t find the fun on using skills for the sole purpose to fuel might, and pistol lacks lots of strategic game play.

last month i fell in love with FT because of the double pop glitch on #2, it was so much fun having to play smart, always being aware of you and your enemies positioning and when that double pop went off, it felt rewarding.. some people are gonna say, but that was OP bla bla bla.. in reality, the double pop did as much damage as warrior’s long bow #3, which has a x2/x3 the radius, and doesn’t require much thinking.

and even #3 works as a short reflect that invites to much welcomed smart plays, as well as #5 which is a great smart stomp, that forces you to watch for you enemies actions in order to blind their special attack. and if you did it right, you would be rewarded with the kill..

stuff like this is the reason i love the engineer. But anet is slowly taking that away from us, all the little combos we had and loved! that simply allowed us to do the same as other classes but also felt much more fun & rewarding than simply pressing 1 skill.

The few things ive been rly wondering about in the past half a year are:
1. Do these guys from Anet actualy read thier own forums?

2. Why do they intentionaly maintain such obsurd imbalance between classes ( if this is accidental then maybe they should re-educate their balance team made of 2.5 staff members that play warriors ).

3. Why do they have this mentality " the more fun – the weaker the output" ? Its a know fact that the skillcap to play a warrior /thief or mesmer isnt even remotely close to the requierments to play an engineer just to keep up . To play an engineer at a good lvl , well, a typical warrior would probably fry his own brain while trying.

4. Why do they first make a class and only AFTER that think what his role should be and not the other way around?
( Anet obviously still didnt decide on enginners role . They nerf just about every decent build ppl come up with and yet havnt brought one up themselfs. so far is like
" good at nothing – bad at everything).
Does anyone have any ideas about all of this?

Im quite happy with my engineer. I never went for the big numbers. If I had wanted that I would have played Thief or Warrior or experimented something with my Mesmer’s shatterbuilds. TBH, I just play what I want to play and can’t see the point in playing a single class as if it were some kind of principle. Its not.

So.. yes. We can get trolled by one guy who sounds like starting a crusade for engineers while all he is doing is mindless bragging. Not that theres anything wrong with mindless bragging, ugh. Or attention-whoring. 
Maybe my playstyle is all wrong and I should get worked up about ANet, too.

well, that is 100% true BUT, lots of people don’t have time to level up every char to 80 or money gear them up, or not everyone likes the play style of other classes. if i like playing engineer why would i have to roll other classes for damage? or level up another char if i want to provide a little support?

and i apologize if my replies come as “attention-whoring” to you sir, but i just happen to believe that if you spend time on doing something why not make the best of it, and you know. sometimes to be heard you gotta make a little noise!

@Kolisch.4691 18.937k from 1 skill might just be a tiny tiny bit, over decent numbers :P

ps: I’m not bashing warrior or trying to get them nerfed at all, i just use it as an example because the majority of people seem to think its the weakest sPvP class, and spvp because that’s where engineers are judged and nerfed.

IMHO

exploiting the double pop on FT 2 did not qualify as “playing smart” but relying on a bug to “improve” yourselves. the same goes for all the “lost” KR builds, they were all built on the premise of capitalizing on Anet’s ridiculously slow response time on bug fixing.

anet ought to be faster at fixing things, but a “smart player” wouldn’t have painted himself into a corner with broken skills.

20 years of MMO experience makes “smart” play, not jury-rigging exploits.

oh hey! there you are! i miss you ( not really )

if you popped f2 then you wouldn’t get 2nd pop! so half the damage was gone, you had to be at certain distance from your target and make sure he stayed there for the slow moving blast to reach him, and target could easily dodge it by simply walking forward or standing close to an object/wall/slope ( blast just disappears without any dmg )

and let me be the bigger man and say that maybe we shouldn’t comment on the same post to advoid going off topic, also i tend to test everything before bringing it to forum so yea.. sowwy meow.
