If so can some one help me figure it out please?

Was also wondering if this is possible and if so how I would do it. Is it possible to keybind a kits attack so that I can use the ability with out having the kit active?

I.E. If I take the nade kit is it possible to have the freeze nade mapped to a key so that I can use it when in pistol mode?

No way to use kit skills without having the kit equipped.

A full Retaliation build s not really viable for Engi. We have access to a few light fields and you can blast finish it. You can use elixir B and there’s a trait in Tools i think called Armor Mods that grants ret on crits or something. All in all, we have access to the boon, but I wouldn’t ever base a build around it as an Engi.

My brother is on the road and asked me to find out. He is trying to come up with a build that works for him. Masks 10th vid build is what he currently has although he wants to try something else out. And I want him to kill the bad guys so that I am not always taking a dirt nap

perma retaliation is very easy to get on an engie.
all u need is elixir b, 30 points in alchemy, fast acting elixirs, potent elixirs and some boon duration runes. when I ran like that I’d often finish fights with 1min+ retaliation which was a bit of an overkill :p

anyway, dont base a build around retaliation, u r better stacking all boons.

I think you definitely could, I don’t know how much your build would be handicapped just to bring the blast finishers you need but you probably could do it.

Elixir B = 13s every 32s with proper traits (30 in Alchemy, -20% CD)
Jump Shot + Healing Turret > Detonate + Acid Bomb inside Super Elixir’s light field = Another 11.7s every 20s.

Plus the chance from Toss Elixir B, and the trait Seras mentioned. Can get some more +boon duration from runes, and Rune of Sanctuary gives additional chance for retaliation.

I think you could, and looking at the skills you could use (Elixir B, Elixir Gun, Healing Turret) it doesn’t seem like you would be handicapped too much there, those are solid skills with an extra slot for stun breaker available. Traits might be worse since you have to take armor mods as well as likely go 30 into Alchemy, but overall it’s possible. I’m sure someone out there could make a usable version of this build and I would be interested to see how well it works.

Thank you Amadeus and Maskaganda! So far the engineer looks like a blast, I am a little envious of my brother and his engineer. Thank you all for helping me out, the longer we can keep him having fun and not being frustrated the better. Means I have a partner in crime.

Ah yes, forgot the +20% elixir duration trait, gg. I’m not convinced that alone is enough for perma retaliation, but it’s pretty close. I bet an HGH build could be pretty easily tweaked to also keep 100% uptime on retaliation. That sounds pretty nasty right there.

not enough for perma, but pretty close, at least in combat. with the setup I said you can get 19 seconds of retaliation from elixir B on a 32 second timer. hidden flask activates at 75% hp, giving u 19 more. then you have toss B and C/toss C and you can use elixir gun for light field + blast finisher for 9 more seconds if Im not mistaken.
add the transmute minor trait to the list as well.

as you can see , retaliation has a pretty high uptime, probably over 90%.
