Are there good wvw builds that do not require using the grenade kit? I really enjoy my engineer but I am not skilled with the manual targeting that is required for the grenade kit.

If there are, I would appreciate any tips or builds that I can use to be effective in wvw.

I suppose most people here will ask the question “what do you want to do?” For example, if you want to win 1v1s, there’s builds for that. If you roam in small groups there’s builds for that, and if you like to run with a big groups, there’s builds for that.

I like to follow the commander most times because most players can easily kill me 1v1. So I guess that means that I like to be with medium to large groups.

Bomb/Bunker builds can be great zerg-breakers. These builds typically are capable of running through zergs – either offensively or defensively – and survive running back to safety while dropping bombs with conditions (especially Big Ol’ Bomb) and controlling effects, which can cause undisciplined zergs to scatter. Just make sure to have plenty of your own anti-CC skills.

Thank you. I have a much easier time with the bomb kit and I do like using the toolkit so that is really great.

If you fear being in the front lines taking a lot of hits, I’m sorry to say grenade kit is your best option. But if you don’t mind being up close and personal with the bad guys, you can have a lot of fun with the bomb kit and/or flamethrower. Personally I like to run bomb kit. I’ll rush head-first into the enemy zerg with gear shield, throw down box of nails, drop bomb 2, 3, and 4 (not necessarily that order), then big ol’ bomb, then leap back out to my group with Acid bomb. In other words, I’m specced to wreak havoc on the zerg so the rest of my team can mop up. Sometimes that bravado gets me killed, but hey it’s a game and it’s fun when it works.

Yeah I guess I can’t hide forever but the grenade kit is a death sentence for me. I really like how players use the bomb kit though and that means getting up close and personal :P

The new trait changes allows you to be more flexible in your builds. I’ve been using a support condi build with the p/s, heal turret, e-gun, toolkit and bomb kit. You can get in, drop your payload, then retreat and aoe heal your group. Then move back in for seconds. (All with a brand new stunbreak on the e-gun too!)
