Is this build ok?
welp, you’re new on the engi, so going a bit more tanky is totally fine.
You run the generic condi-bunker, which lacks quite some burst but will get the job done eventually.
things I personally would change:
- swap shrapnel for forceful explosives. makes landing your bombkit aoe’s way easier.
- swap runes of the undead with runes of balthazar. going too tanky doesn’t helps you and incendiary powder + the HT proc from balthazar are plenty burning uptime.
- sigil of torment is fine. doom or hydromancy still perform better.
- sigil of bursting is bad (welp, not bad in itself, but a complete waste, considering that the engi only has 2 sigil slots, and one must almost always be energy). energy or strength perform better.
Elixirgun also works quite nicely for pvp / wvw, especially because it has a valuable stunbreaker (and a heal… and a condi-clean… and better movement…). if you really want to switch something for toolkit, swap bombkit out and switch back to shrapnel.
Apart from the mentioned above; your gear, traits and utilities look solid.
Have fun on your engi.
Just wondering, this might be a stupid question, but what makes it a bunker?
That’s a good question my frand Rude! Because it’s not a bunker at all! Some people don’t know what bunkers are I guess! A bunker is a build for conquest PvP that can stand on node to prevent caps or decaps! If you try to stand on node as a condi Engi well… it will end poorly for you!
Anyway I think your build is fine for WvW! Undead Runes aren’t that great! Sigil of Bursting isn’t that good either! You can try for Scavenging or Balthazar or Nightmare or Adventurer or Perplexity or Antitoxin! Those are all pretty strong WvW runes! You should run Geomancy instead of Bursting! Geomancy is one of the strongest sigils for condi builds if not the strongest and it works fantastically on Engi!
For dungeons, this build could work! But really anything could work in PvE because of how hilariously easy it is! Unfortunately your damage won’t be the best! Condition builds aren’t really that great for PvE!
Wahoo! Bye frands!

yea, it’s not a bunker in the sense of being able to hold a node, but since you pick dire over rabid in your armor, you decrease your direct damage and boost your survivability more than would be necessary, hence a condi-bunker.
the term actually reffers to wvw more than to pvp because you can see a lot of people there taking a rather tanky approach to soak up dmg rather than mitigating or avoiding it (which is somewhat impossible if you run with a zerg)
F.e.:
Running sinister stats instead of dire+rabid would make you into a condi-burst build. still sinister is not available for pvp yet, therefore your direct dmg will always be sub-par if you opt for condis. which is totally fine as long as you can keep your condis sticking in the target. chill-greandes + sigil of hydromancy help on that regard.
for condi bunkering is not better to use settler ?
it really doesn’t matter since the engi has no stability to deal with the cc-lock of some classes (including other engis), therefore can’t be played as on-point bunker in pvp. and survivability-wise: healing turret does not scale with healing power and backpack-regenerator alone (with regen) is not enough passive heal to opt for so much healing power. it only starts to become interesting if you take either EG and/or healing bombs as well. still you’re sitting on our minimal healthpool, letting you open for condition-spam
therefore full dire or dire + rabid is currently our best sustain option.
Soldiers possibly could be as well, but the engi – especially on power-builds – profits way too much from crit-procs, so even going full power-tank, still requires you to at least get some knight or even berserker-pieces.
ofc there is celestial, getting the best-balanced results from all possible stat-combos, so you may as well roll with it directly if you’re willing to invest the time to craft a full set (roughly one month for the armor + weapon and a bunch of guild-missions + laurels + wvw badges and/or pristine relics to get the ascended trinkets).
I run a full ascended celestial setup on various builds in wvw and I promise you it’s worth it.

May I add that this build, and conditions builds in general, won’t work in pve if you’re not soloing?
sure, go ahead^^
