Hello everyone! Thanks for taking the time to check this topic.

I’m new to the engineer-class and definitely enjoying it so far.
Looking into what kind of skills I enjoy using I have made an attempt to make a build. Now I realize that this isn’t exactly my strongest point… So I was hoping some of you could look into it!

What do I enjoy?
-Using kits
-Turrets
-Rifle!

So I made up the following build. (without any gear and such, as I’m totally going to lose it then.)

In this case, with the focus on kits.
However! When I feel like changing to turrets (for whatever reason)

So… a build that can freely swap between turrets and kits. Any opinions? Suggestions? Critics? Waffles?

EDIT: forgot to say:
I plan to use this in pve and maybe wvwvw every now and then.
In pve, well, pretty much everything. From solo open world to fractals and back. 99% of the time when running fractals/dungeons I’m with my guild.

Hi, always nice to see new engineers
Where do you want to play with your Build? spvp, wvw, pve…?
At the moment I would not recommend to trait for turrets in Inventionsline because all of the turrettraits there are bugged and not working. Kit refinement has a internal CD of 20 secs (I don’t know if anyone uses it anymore) so it could be frustrating if you want the bomb kit effect but you have to switch to your tool kit. Last but not least if you want to use grenades I would definitly recommend to put 30 points in Explosives for Grenadier.

Well I mainly want to pve, and every now and then some wvw, though I don’t really care about being highly competitive in it. I just think it’s fun to tag along with groups and poke/annoy enemies we encounter. ^^’

I grabbed the kit refinement mostly because there’s also the trait there that I can swap to deployable turrets.
But since you said most of those turret-traits are bugged… say I drop the turrets idea and just go with kits. I guess I can drop the hair trigger trait then, as I will hardly be using my actual weapon.

In that case I’d have 10 leftover points. Maybe 5 in alchemy and 5 in tools for some auto-health and some endurance?

And thank you for your kind reply!

I’d rather go for 10 points into tools and take the speedy kits trait, you’ll have perma swiftness available on the fly!

And consider swapping out short fuse for explosive powder, it’ll give both your bombs aswell as your nades a 10% damage bonus. But it’s your call

Edit: and heck I see so many new engineers these days!

Hmm, that sounds pretty good indeed! Will do so.
Thanks a lot for the input!

(and it’s because engineers are cool Besides that they have much more skills with all the kits and such, so more variation!)

EDIT:
Any idea on gear? I’m totally lost at that point ^^’

Unfortunately at the moment, turrets are best used situationally.

To give you an example: Net Turret is a really great choice if you’re speccing into Firearms for Sitting Duck. The Immobilization on itself is meh, but between the toolbelt and the turret itself, you can maintain 5-10 additional stacks of Vulnerabilty on your target. Pretty nice. In PvE, I would otherwise not use it.

I would also recommend picking one kit and traiting around it, rather than two. The only exception to this is the Flamethrower and Elixir Gun combination which benefit from the same traits. But to get the most out of the Tool Kit, Bomb Kit, and Grenade Kit, you have to specialize.

I also recommend keeping Short Fuse. 20% Cooldown Reduction = More Combo fields to boost your party. A 10% damage increase may help yourself, but there’s more to be gained laying down more Fire fields for Might stacking than solely improving your own DPS.
