Is this viable? P/P w/ Rabid

Rabid/sinister mix.
I hypothesized rampagers would be best post patch. but currently feel the proc on crit and cond from crit it provides is not worthwhile vs the direct cond of sinister.
Arguably the same with rabid vs sinister. The toughness is just not really needed. so why not sinister? (aside from cost.)
ATM. pve.
healing turret. flamethrower, flame turret, and rocket boots. mortar.
Blast combo on both turrets. and double seige rounds oribital strike combo.
static not really useful with out power, nor targeted toolbelt skills. (only rocketkick)
so just reactive lens.
streamlined. fireaura on FT. worth it. +speed.
kinetic charge. (seem to need to have a skill on CD to activate this.) so activate healing first. Then dodge to get double ammo or double throw napalm fire fields.
runes of balth,
sigil of smoldering, or bursting, or malice or corruption, not fire.
Trying to work out a decent build for burn damage focus, mostly for mowing down everything in PvE and staying in the thick of the fight with bunker providing sustain, AED offering a near 70% heal with a 8s safety window, and mortar providing a water field for comboing with flame blast, fire turret det, orbital strike, and rocket boots.
All Rabid (Condi, Prec, Tough)
P/P, AED, Flamethrower, Flame turret, Rocket boots, Mortarnice but I’d always take toolkit on a pp build with no other damage mitigation… Replace flame turret with this
no stun break! Slickshoes… Nuff said. Swap for rocket boots
Inventions – AMR, Mecha, Bunker
fine
Firearms – Chem, Pinpoint, Incendiary (Juggernaut for stabilty if CC expected)
fine
Tools – Static, Takedown, Gadgeteer (lowers AED to 30s and 8s window)
static discharge needs a power orientated build. Since I use toolkit, power wrench for reduced block, bleed field, pull, confuse and take target lock over takedown round, which don’t work against moving targets… Flamethrower #1 turns this into a thief/mes melter
gadgeteer is bugged with AED AMR combo :‘( I want it to work to, until it’s fixed use kinetic charge for double incendiary ammo
Runes of Balthazar, Sigil of Smoldering, Sigil of Fire
swap fire for torment, good cover condi
Do you see anything you would change? I’m not really much of trait builder, so any advice would be super helpful and much appreciated!

I dropped rocket boots for Elixir U in pvp.
If U is up, its pretty much an I-win button. the wall was always good in pvp before too.
I made yesterday full Sinister gear and for open pve/sw events ect its pretty amazing with HGH. Perma 25 might and highers ticks what I saw was 12k burning 8k bleeding and 3k poision. Average condi ticks were ofc bit lower and on top nice power dps. With rabid gear will be ticks simillar just power damage will be lower. Here is build:

Because you still rotating all elixirs is survability quite high even without defensive stats

I can definitely see Rabid P/P engineers being strong in sPvP (though I’ve been having fun with my temporarily OP Power Ranger to the exclusion of Engi recently).
I’m thinking something like:
- Explosives: Grenadier, Shaped Charges, [Trait that gives bleeds and cripple to explosions]
- Firearms: [Close Combat], Precision to Condi Trait, Incendiary Powder
- Tools: Reactive Lenses, Streamlined Kits, [No CD on Tool Skill on Dodge Trait]
- Heal Kit, Grenade Kit, Bomb Kit, Slick Shoes, Mortar Kit
- Krait or Balth Runes
- Sigils of Fire and Earth
I haven’t tried this in sPvP (it certainly works for WvWvW Roaming, with some Dire and P/S instead of P/P). With all of the hits you get with the explosives line, you will get enough crits to proc all of your condis every time they are off CD.
Mains — Mathias of the Wood [Ranger]; Collaborator Bluatt [Engineer]
Alts — Necromancer, Warrior, Elementalist

See, this is perfect in pve. I’m in the process of crafting my sinister set… But you will melt in PvP/wvw… Even with all the elixir boons. I’ve tried it with rampager. Fun but not sustainable ;-)

Ofc its useless in pvp its pve build:-). Its for stuff like sw event farming and general open world pve. It can be also very viable in solo dungs. Its definetly not for wvw, spvp or dung speedruns with full party.

In spvp in my opinion things are changed.
Rabid has not vitality or healing power. The old rabid builds took advantages from the alchemy vitality stat . if you want to play P/P rabid now i suggest you to trade firearm with invention and take explosive , alchemy and inventions.
You lose pistol cd reduction and IP and a little damage but you gain a very big burst in sourvability becouse when you crit you can have medkit down and from them you can raise up your healing power. It is a lost in term of damage but you can really have good survability. And with invention you can also have 25% swiftness. It is not 33% but it is quite good. If from explosion you take thermobaric detonation in explosive, with healing turret f1 ( toolbet ) and dodge you have an extra healing also that is quite strong . I love to play p/p and i am using it quite a lot with success now but i feel that cele now is stronger , for the fact that you have much more vitality and healing power ( with rabid you are near 3k armour now ) For giving a number , old rabid build had 17k or 18k vitality ( 4 or 6 in alchemy ) you now have 15k … and it is a little low. P/S in my opinion is now weak with rabid becouse if you take explosive , firearms and alchemy for Incendiary powder you have low vitality and hp …you can take invention but you have no access to burning ( with pp you have with pistol 4 ) and no swiftness . P/S now is better with bombs perhaps so that you can have burning from bombs and let ip out…but in my opinion it is weaker. Now with all the healing we can have, also taking bombs and nades is really strong… letting out toolkit… but for me letting out toolkit is an hit in the hearth
