It's Getting kinda anoying by now
A catchy name can convince other people to play the build. It also can be fun to create a build name a long with your build. People also like to be known about in some fashion or another and by naming something that sticks this can be accomplished in some form.

I think what Ayestes said is correct about convincing people to play the build. I posted a build in my first ever post on forums tonight, that i doubt is original , it was purely an incentive for people to try it out and maybe enjoy our class over others.

Its not color when they are using builds others posted months ago, then naming it and pretending they just came up with some unique concept.
Poor craftsman blame their tools. Poor players blame their Engineer.
