For all the wrong reasons….

About the only utility to myself and my team I have carved out in PVP has been from the ability to tactically change kits depending on the situation. Seeing as how we’re limited to 1 weapon set, kits were my lifeline.

Now I’m next to useless. Instead of looking at the highest played classes in PVP and asking “why are the majority of people running Thief/Mesmer/Ele builds”, they have by and large left them and some of their BLATANTLY OP abilities alone and offered the Engineer some token (largely useless) buffs while CRIPPLING those few of us who relied on kits to stay alive and help the team.

Why? Why have they done this? Were the 5% of us who play Engineer that distracting to them? Or is it the 100 nades people who screwed this up?

Keep your buffs and please give me back my ability to swap kits. If this is the faustian bargain I need to make with you in order to receive even these meager buffs, then say keep them and I will take my chances as I was before.

Respectfully, yours.

it’s not the 100nades fault, its just the difficulty that they’ve had giving an identity to the class, they designed the class one way but players are playing it another, with this nerf, it shows that anet wants us to stay longer in kits and make builds aroud them, thats why they boost elixir gun( it was fine before) and flamethrower and discourage kit swamping

personally i always run 3 kits, and would use every skill but not at once since i had a variety of combos i liked to pull off, so i would stay in 1 kit for half a sec, use 1 skill and then to the next and im sure lots of people did the same, and sadly builds like this have taken a hit because of the randomness that kit refinement will become, so now either switch kits less often, bring less kits or accept the randomness

I’d just love for once is the devs had the balls to man up and explain their reasoning behind things.

I think the Engineer is an inside joke on us idiots who seem to be wasting our time with it. Anet wants us to play how they think we should play. If they want me to be an elixir Engi just come out and say it.

Yep; I’d run with EG / ?? / Grenades on my utility.

Now… I guess its back to always running my guardian. I am really sad because I just started running him in dungeons with my small guild…(when we had a tank – my other character I am bored of is Guardian, so if we have no tank I have to play him)… maybe I can try again with flamethrower … or stick to grenades and keeping vuln stacks up… at least that lets everyone else do damage…

If they wanted us to stay in kits longer they’d give every kit a decent damage autoattack so people had a reason to stay there after they’d blown their other cooldowns.

Anet focused on the Engis since release date...
Is it good or bad?
Sure, bad, coz they are focuse on us in the nerfs only...
Look at all patches - nerfs only. Visible nerfs or hidden - doesn’t matter.

That would go completely against everything they’ve said and done up until this patch though. ( Alleged ) Versatility is the reason the weapons and ( most ) individual kits are comparatively weak. But in a one kit build Engineers aren’t versatile at all, although I’ll give you that speccing heavily into them was necessary for ( most ) kits to be effective even before yesterday’s update. ( The notable exception is the tool kit, which got buffed even further. Go figure )

In a relationship this kind of behaviour would be labeled as “sending mixed signals” I suppose. Usually that doesn’t go too well for at least one of the people involved.
