Patch is about to come out, time to predict what the Engineer patch notes will be.
Here’s mine:

Engineer:
Drinking elixers with HGH will only grant one stack of might
Cleansing formula 409 now has a 20 sec internal cooldown
Static Discharge now has a 20 sec internal cooldown
Rifle Turret Damage is increased by 10%

Bugs:
Scope still not fixed
Due to botched implementation drinking elixers with HGH now grants 3 stacks of might. Thrown elixers grant 0 stacks of might.

Gadgets reworked to not be a complete waste of time, pistol bleed bumped up to 3 second base duration, flamethrower auto attack now does 5% more damage per tick for every previous hit in the same attack chain without a miss.

Tool kit auto damage increased by 12%, box of nails now has no cast time, Glue Bomb applies only a quarter second root – but it applies it every tick, same with glue shot (cripple removed).

Super elixir healing increased overall by 80% to compensate for loss of double super elixir, Elixir F miss bugs fixed, Fumigate damage increased by 880% so players will actually push 3 now with elixir gun out.

Scope reworked from 10% crit chance while standing still to 20% crit chance while wielding a rifle. Still will not make sense because of hip firing, and still will not work because shoddy QA.

The problem about HGH builds is not the extra might, people missunderstand. The might stacking is icing on an already pretty tasty cake. Elixirs grant powerful boons, ignoring might. Even without might stacking elixirs can easily cleanse conditions with short cooldowns.

I’ve played elixirs for a long time and honestly the best part of the build is the other boons you get. I ignore the might I get and think of it as only a pleasant side-effect. HGH is not the end-all build, in pvp I still much prefer turrets. I’d use turrets in pve too if it was not for the lack of mobility.

Moral of the story: HGH is balanced… its just that all of our other builds suck

This will never happen. And yet, I will go to sleep tonight dreaming that this will happen.

This change would cause a TP run on The Hunters.

I would like to see the Sharpshooter continue to grant its normal 30% chance to cause a 3-second bleed on crit, but that chance increases to 50% while wielding a rifle.

  • Static Discharge: 2s Internal cool down.
  • 409: 10s internal cool down.
  • Shrapnel Grande: Reduce Bleed duration 4-6s.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fix “miss” from blow torch/FT (Again)
  • Flame Turret now works properly with Deployable Turrets.

Heard that they are not working on Gadgets. Turrets just received a “MASSIVE” buff and FT/EG have been nerfed too much so they will most likely be left alone. leaving very little room for “buffs”. Any buff’s will be completely unpredictable &unexpected at this point.

grenadier now only affects grenade kit #1
eg #3 now removes 2 boons at the end of the cast.
sigil of battle might base duration changed from 20 to 10 seconds.

flamethrower auto attack now does 5% more damage per tick for every previous hit in the same attack chain without a miss.

That only works out to like 270 more damage per chain on a single target (assuming 105 dmg on the first hit, 10 hits, unless I’m way wrong), could be cool if it the effect stacked vs. multiple targets, though.

I was working on my own reply, but noticed your list pretty much sums up exactly what I expect to see.

I very much doubt they’ll revert HgH back to 1 stack. Much more likely is that they’ll tweak our ability to proc runes and sigils so easily.

I can see the 409 change too, I just pray it’s not more than 10 seconds.

As much as I hope they leave Static Shot alone, I have a feeling they might do something to it as well.

Edit: Can’t forget – Scope: still not fixed.

I would suggest a dark towel.

As a PVE engineer:
- elixir toss radius increase by 10%
- elixir toss cooldowns reduced by 15%
- HGH reworked, now makes drinking an elixir affect the entire party (as if it were a shout)
- turrets scale with toughness/vitality of owner

I want Engineers to have the same party support potential as a Guardian.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

I think originally they meant the elixir throwing to act similar to shouts. The turrets are very weak indeed. I am impressed how Arena Net doesn’t take a serious attitude towards this matter since nobody use turrets. The only turret I use is the Rifle Turret but only to get the Tool Belt Hip Shot that works with the static discharge. Sure we use the supply drop because it’s a spam but this doesn’t justify.

I love pessimism almost as much as sarcasm.

- I’m hoping for a fix to Scope and the Asura/Elixir S bugs.
- I’m expecting a nerf/fix/change to boon stacking in general, or just Might. But no changes to HGH.
- I think KR will be tweaked, perhaps changing some of the skills or reducing/removing the shared CD.
- Seems we get turret love every patch. Maybe some more this time too. Feels like they’re slowly stepping up turrets.
- Would love to see a cooldown reduction for gadgets across the board.

I’m not expecting patch notes for us being even remotely as long as last time. They spent a lot of time on us last month. I think they’ll turn more attention to another class this time around (hopefully Rangers).

Though I’m not really seeing the flamethrower miss. it hits everything I point it at assuming I’m facing that way. It even hits doors now. Now if they would just stop nerfing and fix the things that don’t work….

While ANet does seem to be slowing buffing turrets, unless they add wheels to them and have them follow you around, the lack of mobility will continue to make them a distant second choice while building specs. With that said, I would love to see them with wheels following me around.

-The rate of fire for Flame Turret has been increased slightly.

Bugs:
-Fixed a bug that allowed Confusion to do too much damage in WvW

The only way to play the engineer is to exploit it.
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.
