I feel as though the trait Juggernaut has been swept over the rug, it has good possibilities to be a good trait I feel, but at this point is almost unusable I find. Unless you sit with your flamethrower kit out all the time (which I would deeply advise against), you can not possibly prosper from this trait at all. The trait is extremely unreliable in combat, it seems to have its own internal cooldown of when the might and stability is applied, and if you happen to be off it during the split moment, nothing. The internal clock of the trait does not care at all when you actually equip the kit, but if it is equipped during the timer.

While I am on the Juggernaut trait, I have been away from this game for a while, and now that I am back the +200 toughness is gone from this trait. Albeit it being constantly bugged, was there a reason this was taken away?

Any suggestions for this trait? It currently has a monotone play style, leaving you only 1 real option for using the trait: staying in Flamethrower kit.

Any suggestions for a rework for flamethrower kit? If I remember correctly, I thought Air Blast used extended the burning duration? But now it only applies 1 stack of burning if the target is already burning. Napalm strike feels really awkward also, I have almost never used to except for might stacking, which is near impossible in combat. The fire field itself is extremely thin, and requires extreme precision to execute a blast finisher in. Often times when I am trying to rapidly might stack, I will land blast finishers on the edge of it, half in half out and I receive no might. I feel as though this is the worst skill in the kit. Also smoke vent feels slightly underwhelming, but it does have its uses.

Any comments? Whether you love it or hate it, I would like to hear what others think of the Flamethrower kit and the Juggernaut trait

So, I’ve found that this trait is really ideal for open world PvE where the wide arc of the attack is great for hitting a lot of mobs at once and you don’t need to swap out of it like you need to in PvP. The might stacking possibilities also work well solo where you don’t have the supplemental might from a group and won’t waste might stacks very often.

I’ve found that the best synergy with Flamethrower and Juggernaut are the traits HGH and Mass Momentum along with Elixir B. Elixir B is great not only for the extra might through HGH, but also because you can throw the elixir for stability, which allows you to swap kits and do something out of FT without losing your stability/might.

While you swap out, you can use something like Elixir Gun for utility and additional might through HGH. The blast on Acid Bomb can also be used for more might stacking. Alternatively, you can swap to bomb kit and drop Fire and Concussion bomb if you’re running condi stats.

The kit can’t be all things. It has strengths and weaknesses. It has it’s place in the game, just not everywhere in the game.

The fairly constant Stability along with 5 – 10ish stacks of Might (30*10 = 300 additional Damage and 300 Condi Damage) is pretty powerful. Couple FT with Backback Regenerator,Bunker Down, HGH, Elixer B, and a full Zerker Set and it’s pretty darn powerful for what it is.

I dont like juggernaut (kitcamping is boring and hurts your damage output more often then not).
Air blast does not what the tooltip says (only applies burning when the target is already on fire)
Napalm could use some changes, its pretty underwhelming for a skill with such a long cooldown. Making it an elixir (procs HGH and alchemical tinctures) would be a nice start.
Im fine with the smoke vent but if they ever gonna buff it, adding a 2s smoke field to it would be so awsome (flamethrower providing stealth).

I’m mostly okay with the kit as it is. The only thing I really don’t like is the perpendicular linear AoE on Napalm, which I find to be a hassle for all such abilities. I find most moves with that kind of AoE to be rather inconvenient, the exception being abilities that block people or projectiles such as Elixir U’s Toolbelt or Elementalist’s Earth Staff #4. Napalm, I’d much prefer to see as a circular or “straight out” linear AoE.

As for the trait, I’m okay with the boons it provides. However, I’m similarly unhappy with the way the boon application interval takes effect. As it is now, you really do need to sit in the kit to get its benefit, losing out on a large amount of the versatility that makes Engineers what they are.
I don’t know that they can make the timer start upon pulling out the Flamethrower rather than running constantly in the background. If they can, it’d be awesome to see that. If not, the next best thing that I’d love to see is for the interval to be shortened to 1 second, and the boons adjusted accordingly. 1 Stability for 1 second, and 1 Might for 5 seconds, every 1 second. Makes it less of an unreliable gamble for whipping it out when you see some kind of CC coming, and lets you reach its maximum amount of Might much faster so you can use it either with the Flamethrower, or for some kind of spike with another weapon or kit.

The class is always greener on the other side.

Juggernaut would be great if they just changed it to be a flamethrower specific version of Streamlined Kits, except instead of swiftness it would give several stacks of might and stability for a certain time. Something like 5 stacks of might and 3 stacks of stability for 10 or 20 seconds when you swap to flamethrower with a 10 or 20 second cooldown. There would actually be a reason to take it over Modified Ammunition in builds that don’t rely on the FT for most of their damage, and would also make Mass Momentum a lot more useful as well.

I use juggernaut for Pvp , it’s really satisfying to let go of your keyboard and mouse and give them a double finger while you watch their frail attempts to intterupt your finisher.
Also really good in the new Pvp map to channel hero beacons, outsite Pvp, not so much. Though if you do you should take scrapper and the one stacking additional might for your perm stab

The stab on juggernaut must stay as is, or it becomes too powerful for WvW & PvP where people want to have the ability to stunlock you IF executed correctly.

However, the might tick-intervals are too long.
given that you run no boon duration for might, buffing up in FT takes 5×3 seconds already, so you’re forced to camp this kit primarely in order to get a decent might uptime from this trait. Given that we’re meant to swap often & cycle trough various sets, this trait behaves counter-intuitive to our class design.
While stacking might in and of itself is definitively quite awesome, usually the FT lacks group-support, beyond its thin & hard-to-finish firefield, and frequent access to a blast-finisher.

So I’d like to change juggernaut to this:
While Flamethrower is equipped,
- tick one stack of stability for 3 seconds every 3 seconds
- AoE buff “Juggernaut” every 3 seconds for 10sec in 480 range (equals HT) / this buff can not stack / Juggernaut grants 150 strength & 150 condition-dmg

This would
A) finally give us a unique, viable group-buff
B) open up FT builds for more rune choices than just aristocracy, hoelbrak & strength
C) reduce the minimum camp time in FT from 100% to 30%
D) reward us with a higher stat-cap IF we manage to stack 25 might with other means

Engineer is love, Engineer is life.

A) Engineers don’t need a unique, viable group buff. We already have the highest dps build in the game an can fill just about any role due to our versatility. There’s already almost no reason to ever take a thief if you have an engi in the party.

B) I don’t really see this as an issue.

C) The problem with camping FT is that you drastically reduce your personal DPS with the AA. Currently, this isn’t an issue in open world since you can stack so much might that you can offset this loss, whereas you’d already have this might in a group. If you made this change, then you’d be doing an inferior job of a Phalanx Strength war, who can stack more might with less of a personal DPS loss.

D) See point A.

Something like this is what a necro would need much, much more than engi.

imo it’s fine as it is. i can run around in spvp with 14-16 stacks might permanently and easily stack up to 25 while running a pure defensive build and roflstomp everything.
don’t change that.

You don’t need to camp in FT all the time to gain the full Might stacks out of it. Just swap to the weapon or another kit between the intervals and do your bursts, than swap back before the next interval and you still get the boons.
