Kicked out of the meta?
I don’t think it’s all that fair to judge any class based on their rate of being played in tPvP or top-tier teams, that’s all.
At least I certainly does not feel like I have been kicked out of the meta.
I do not think we were kicked out of the meta. I think all the baddie’s assumed the meta was something and created it based on perception, while skilled players did something else all together.
Feel free to look through my post history, I have been pointing this out for months. Particularly on the profession balance sub forum when the random engineer is OP threads pop up.
But in fact the meta has changed from condi to power. And the ele is in the meta now for sure and he is more or less very hard to kill for an condi engi. The necro is still very strong against us. So many teams decided to replace the engi. The fact that we are easy to kill is also not very good for us in the current meta.
In my point of view the engi has moved from Tier B to Tier C and we have been replaced by necro and ele
My experience is mostly from WvWvW, so take this with a grain of salt:
After April 15th balance update, I have noticed that there are less enemy engineers roaming around. Sometimes I can play 6 hours without seeing an enemy engineer. The most common roaming professions are still the same: thief, mesmer and warrior. The amount of mesmers seem to have doubled and enemy elementalists have gotten aggressive, thanks to their buffed survivability. But that might all be attributed that most our match ups have been against SFR, who really likes mesmers and thieves besides the usual melee train. Guardian Warrior Elementalist Necro = GWEN has always been the meta in zergs and that is still the case.
In open field battles engineer is far weaker than defending and decapping nodes (spvp/tpvp). Engineer is weak against focus fire, conditions and has weak access to stability. The long cool down of stun breakers and many builds more or less forced to run with no stun break or with just one stun break alleviates the latter problem. If I see an enemy group I almost always focus on their engineer, ranger or necromancer first as those 3 professions are the easiest to chain CC and kill. Warrior and guardian have so much better condition cleansing and access to stability, also arguably much better stun breaks. Playing a warrior and guardian in WvWvW feels so easy, that it is almost feels like cheating. From spvp/tpvp point of view this game might appear fairly well-balanced, but in WvWvW the balance is totally skewed towards GWEN (+ thieves & mesmers in roaming).
Most players select the easy mode. If you can achieve much more playing warrior and guardian than playing an engineer using the same effort, why to do the latter? The answer is challenge and fun.
engy decapper is engy decapper never changed
just decap
i run this when play on my engy http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQJAqelUUpPrlcxyKseNiaBF6bsxAI6rklk8pKA-TJxHwAc2fAZZADnAAAPAAA
P/S if u see to much ele/necro/mesmer rifle is there r 2 thief in the enemy team
Decap builds do not bring you into the meta. Decap Engi was in the SoloQ strong, but now it is not so strong

I suggest WANG WENG, because .,.
And your last point is why I chose to play engi
