Kit Refinement (effects post patch)
If each one had their own cooldown it would probably be pretty decent (though RIP double SE), but why in the kitten do they share a cooldown? The only one of the effects that arguably is good enough to be worthy of causing a cooldown on the others is Bomb Kit’s.

Our strongest build use HGH, I don’t know what the hell you are talking about.
nope our strongest builds were those i used and HGH is the most BS trait you can choose, i had 15-18 might without this stupid joke of a trait. But then again i play WvW and not PvE like you.
oh, and for those who aren’t testing this themselves yet: a small note that the patch notes didn’t mention…
all the effects are amazingly SHORT!
Like, real real short. So short they are gone by the time you read the tooltip.
RIP Kit Refinement. You served me well, but I have already respec’ed to permanently remove you. In time, you will be but a memory.
Not arguing that it was a nerf to Elixir Gun.
Just pointing at possible uses and synergy.To be honest: acid bomb itself should immobilize or at least cripple…
Group support as engineer got a huge nerf with these changes to Kit refinement, I totally agree.
You aren’t supposed to do any support in this game, unless you play guardian. Everyone else should just do damage, hence Elixir U changes to lure more people in grenadelixirs build.
The only positive thing about this patch is that i spared 30 laurels until today because now i dont have to bother if my engineer or my ele gets another ascended item.
But then again i dont know if i will continue playing anyway.
They finally killed my engineer, i survived 13543 nerfs, resskilled/regeared after every patch, now you got me anet. Im done here.
Very very, very tempted to throw in the towel along side ya. Only reason I’m not is that the conditions/HGH build still somewhat interests me; least til they nerf that into the ground too, to give gadgets a cooldown reductiom or something equally ludicrous.
This build sucks, it always sucked and will ever suck its designed for baddies who suck at playing engineer. Its totally BS in 1vX and HGH is the most useless and wasted trait ever. Jes its the last build left because there is no other way to remove conditions, but that doesnt mean its a good build.
If you dont agree you were a baddie anyway. The only dangerous/decent engineers had a minimum of 2 kits, everything else was just free badges.
I just rage now until maybe next week and maybe i continue playing my mesmer/ele or im done once and for all. Engineer is dead for me and it was the thing that drawed me to this game.
Um, no. I’m sure I’m not a “baddie”. There are plenty of other viable builds. Just because you can’t play them doesn’t make all the other engi’s bad.
The changes to KR feel much like every change thus so far for the engineer. Yes there are positives but there is an equal amount of head scratching. Bomb makes sense, elixir gun does not. Med kit makes sense, tool kit does not (I haven’t tested the superspeed but seriously 2s???.) Fireshield for 4s is nice…I would like it to remove a condition as the old FT KR did. Replacing the barrage from grenade kit is fine with me but I would have prefered a mine field rather than just the one mine. My reason for this is that the boon removal is what I am really wanting from a mine not really the damage although the knockback is nice. I used to love juggling kits with KR…it was so frantic and exciting. The 20s global cooldown really killed it for me. I would have preferred weaker refinements and a negligable cooldown.
We need a visual KR timer as well.
on elixir gun this:
1. swap Elixir gun and glue
2. hit #4 and drop an acid bomb
3. start your shooting on the enemy getting hurt by the acid bomb.
This is a smart change, for a build using only EG it’s actually a usefull thing.
The new KR is good for most one kit builds actually, with the obvious exception of 100Nades ( personally I’m not sad to see that one bite the dust, cheesy burst builds are lazy design ). Isn’t the entire point of the trait to support multi kit usethough ? If so, it now utterly fails at its intended purpose.

I nearly bought my Engi’s ascended amulet and infusion yesterday. Now I’m glad I didn’t.

I gotta say, I am pretty much as angry as I can be about the changes with kit refinement (as angry as I can get over a game, anyway). I was very happy with my engi before, and she’s the only character I’ve really learned to like in GW2…and now this. I’ll get used to it, but it’s extremely disappointing. It mostly comes down to super elixir for me. My favorite source of quick condition removal is gone. The ONLY kit that needed to be changed, imo, was the med kit because the triggered spell for that previously made no sense (burst of fire).

Well its clear as it is:
kit refinement (REFINE) now is for one kit builds. We’ll have to deal with it.
Can’t say i see it works for that case, though. Most one-kit builds i can pull do not have free 10 points for little add effect.
Agreed, KR is no longer a useful multi-kit trait. Can’t see where it would be worth taking on a single kit build either.

Acid Bomb should change to Glue Bomb (1 second immobilize with 3 sec cripple) and KR for Elixir Gun should be Acid Trail.

KR for Elixir Gun should go back to Super Elixir. Or perhaps a new trait that allows us to get another Super Elixir from the elixir gun. The eles can plop 3 Cleansing Waves with evasive arcana, the water trait, and water 5. But having two super elixirs, that have a similar effect of a small heal and a single condition cleanse?

I personally have no clue what so special about that p/p hgh build I think it’s bad as well….is it a wvw thing because conditions hit harder? I don’t get it I used to use a build just like it back in August called “the skirmishing alchemist” that Vudani created it seems the same.
It would be a fine and interesting change if the CD was not shared and we could still surppress the proc by jumping.
However, when it stays like it is now I do not see much use for it in the future. For multikit builds it is restricting kit swapping in a very odd way. Always being aware of the CD and making real use of the arguable effective procs without screwing up you “attack flow” I would consider as a real feat.
For single-kit builds one or the other skill might be interesting.
I still do not get why anet nerfs multikit builds across the board. Well, I have a guess but I do ot want to give them a bad idea…
