Mine is level 80, has over 95% of the map cleared, and is in exotics with a few purps after that. So why have I been spending less time on him than my Necromancer? Because since patch, when Engineers were judged to be the FotM, I chose to stop playing it. That’s right, out of shear counter culturism.

I know, it should be for a really good reason, like a love of turrets or something. Yet honestly, as awesome as this class is, I don’t want to play what 75% of the player base has decided to play.

75%? Where the hell did you get that? More like 10%, maybe even lower

Its not super lame, actually. The thing is, different classes have different utilities, and in case one class be becomes super common, their utility is always filled by another teammate.

Yes, change your class only becouse more ppl play her now, lol. You won’t be special only becouse you play less popular class… srsly. And trust me, noone cares why u gonna change your class…

Ps. Choosing the least popular class makes you one of the most common players, becouse most of ppl want to pick the least popular classes…

So my opinion is:
Noone cares. U won’t be different than others only becouse of your class pick.

I see very few Engineers in WvW, but many Necros from my WvW experience, but I suppose it is down to the game mode your playing as I hear Engineers are very popular in sPvP at least. (sPvP I don’t play)

Leveled an Engineer recently as I didn’t understand how to counter them with my main character from just reading up and watching others, I actually enjoy playing it near on par with Mesmer fun for me as it feels like a very flexible class.

At the end of the day, just play whatever you enjoy the most and ignore what others do.

Engi is the least played proffesion…. Followed by ranger and necro. Get your facts straight. And did you seriously make a topic to tell people you are not going to play engi anymore?

Well before we pounce on the OP, I do think there is some point in his post.
The engineer was a far less played class than it is now.
The interesting question is why all of a sudden do you see a relative surge in people playing engineer? The skills haven’t dramatically changed nor has what you can bring to the table. Is it awareness? Other classes losing the ability to fit such roles? Or people who are bored finally getting around to play that class they ignored?

And yes, to an extent I do understand wanting to have that unique build or be different. It won’t last long in an MMO and I’m not sure what the OP was hoping to accomplish with their post.

Back in Aug 2013 ArenaNet released statistics (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-the-first-year/) which showed 10% of the player base were Engineer Class (joint last with Mesmer).

The data is 9 months old and there may be a lot more people dabbling with Engineer but I doubt the stats are much different.

I just got bored. Which surprises me really. I spent all kinds of gold crafting an ascended back item, gearing 6x Strength Runes, and new sigils. Not to mention time unlocking the new GM traits.

Rebuilt a snazzy new build utilizing a new GM trait and…..got bored. Engi overload I guess. Been leveling a guardian with my bud instead.

I experienced this as a necro main after the 6/25 dhuumfire buff. Switched to power because I didn’t want to play cheese, which it was.

Difference here is that engis are not cheese. There are new builds that are coming up that people aren’t used to – that’s how I interpret it. I find it refreshing.

engi became fotm? just give it a few weeks when all the people coming to engineers wrists get weak and have to move back to a basic class

I feel the exact same way as the OP. I have played a turret Engie since the very first day of headstart. It has been my main, through thick and thing, through sheer stubbornness alone. No matter how crappy turrets got… no matter how much we were hated, there I was- a lonely little turreteer.

Now there are turrets EVERYWHERE, and everyone looks like me like I chose the build because it’s FotM. I feel so very hipster because of this (I ran turrets before they were cool!), but dangit, I don’t like seeing so many of me around.

The hipster in me hopes they nerf the crap out of turrets soon.

in pvp only pls. I love my boon sharing turret blast build. pls no nerf.

I honestly wanna do a dungeon with 5 engies with turrets and supply drop…. so many turrets….

If it’s unique you want, you could dress your Engineer as a giant fat nakes norn with a purple afro and mustache. Rock a full cripple-specced toolkit wrench auto build and use A.E.D. for extra hipster points.

Engie is FOTM in PvP now? kittenmit, that’s the only place I played my Engie do I really have to hang her up for now? QQ.

the question now is how hard will engineers eat the nerf hammer? I can guarantee it won’t be a shave
