I’m almost done with the materials you need universally throughout all legendaries and its come down to me finally picking which one I want. I’ve been planning on meteorlogicus on mesmer this entire time but engineer is my main and its the class I truly have the most fun on. However I’m afraid if I go for predator (the only legendary for engi I like) that I wouldn’t see it all that much because I use kits primarily and only use rifle in rotations and would see it in towns.

Anybody get a legendary and think its worth it for engineer?

Also wondering if Arenanet was planning on changing backpack skins based on legendaries in the future?

IMO legendaries are a bit weak for the engineer. The pistol Quip is one of the “joke” weapon and looks way too funky for my tastes, the rifle The Predator is a sniper rifle and just looks odd when being used the way engineers use rifles, and the shield The Flameseeker Prophecies is much more suited for a guardian-esque character.

The rifle can still be a nice choice since it has a unikittenfect on engineers. It turns the grenades in grenade barrage into fiery orbs. If you can get past the fact that you’re using a sniper rifle as a shotgun, then that can be cool for your grenade kit.

I’ll probably be getting the shield on my engg once I have everything collected. I’ve debated giving one of my alts a legendary, but I feel like I might end up regretting that later (also have a hard time making up my mind between them all).

Yeah I’m kinda the same way with my alts, but my problem is after a day or two of playing an alt, I just end up missing my engineer. This is kinda why I was thinking about getting predator instead of meteorlogicus. I would consider my Mesmer my second main, and I do enjoy it allot, but it doesn’t have that same feeling as engineer for me.

There are better looking Rifle / pistol Skins in the Game. And due to the Fact that Engi is using a lot of kits + Rifle shooting from the Hip looks awful with predator, i wouldn`t craft a Leg. 4 your Engi.
But in the End thats personal Taste.

They need to make it so that equipping a legendary “skins” all your kits to give them a unique look that lines up to the legendary.

Quip only looks good on asuras to me

I kind of want Quip just for the troll factor when killing people in WvW…however, there’s no way I’m ever doing that much boring PVE content to get one.

Predator now throw barrage of fire grenades (its buggy and not show everytime) so its possible:-D

Legendary weapon on an Eng? Doesn’t seem worth it to me – especially as it only has one set of stats and the way the Eng keeps getting changed so we have to reequip it might end up being an horrifically expensive piece of luggage.

Now a Legendary Flame Thrower, that’s something I’d put the work in for.

I got predator and I don’t regret about it. I always play grenades but still swap to rifle for my rotations.

a) Grenade barrage has an awesome visiual and sound effect – doesn’t matter if u are in kit or on rifle. This fact alone is worth the legendary imo because it sounds so awesome and looks so awesome.

b) predator autoattack has nice sound but gets annoying if u hear it 24/7 – so I don’T mind playing most of the time in kits – so rifle attack stays special

c) best look walking around – no other rifle comes close

The only thing I mind is: the animation of the autoattack: it’s hip shot with rifle… but anyway every other good rifle has the same problem with hip shot.

Go get it!

It’s not currently available for my Quip, but I know of an Asura Engineer it works for, as well as when you toss elixers, it has an effect. If it is affected by the Grenadier trait, that doesn’t explain why tossing elixers does not work for me either.

Since engineers have the best shield skills, it would be really nice if the Flameseeker Prophecies got some neat animation for some of those skills, as well as many others like how Predator is supposed to modify grenade skills.

And no, i dont care much about it being better for a guardian. My Priory Magister of ascalonian heritage will be just fine with it. Better that than hip-shooting with a sniper or shooting bubbles. -.-

On the other hand, kit hobo-sacks. Make them go away. Please. Im begging here. Thats the only reason im not full bent on getting a legendary ASAP.

I initially thought the Quip was such a joke and didn’t even want to bother with it. I don’t use rifles much, so Predator wasn’t an option really.

But I must admit, the Quip is the most awesome party gun out there! The sounds can get a little annoying, but that is part of the fun. Everyone can hear me coming from a mile away. lol
