I’m sure it has been asked, begged before. Why can’t we keep them? We spend most of our times using kits, seens unfair that we don’t get to showboat (fashion wars and all) these very expensive stuff.

because engineer is the unwanted stepchild and anet for some weird reason wants to discourage players playing it even further which shows f.e. in the removal of predator effects for grenades/projectiles.

The unwanted stepchild is the necromancer class. The legendary effects apply to weapons, and kits are considered different weapons. Applying legendary effects would require big changes to the way legendary effects work. It may seem like an easy change on the surface, but when you look under the hood, it’s actually a lot harder than it seems.

Kind of silly that nothing has been done in over 4+ years.

Granade barrage used to have an effect with The Predator equiped.

It seems it still has an effect on Grenade barrage for Hope, Quip and Predator.

Since I don’t really like nades, I would love to see an effect on FT or Elixir Gun.

I doubt there’s some malicious intent by anet to punish engineers for being engineers. If that’s really you’re feeling on the matter then I can’t really imagine why you would still be playing the game.

In any case, I feel like there has to be some sort of coding issue with introducing legendary effects to all kits. Maybe not wanting to have all the skills blend into using the same particles? Could make it difficult to discern what’s going on around you if everything has legendary effects tied to it. That said, I agree that we definitely need more love if we’re going to be dumping thousands of gold on legendaries and get minimal reward for the effort.

We should get so much more from legendaries – projectiles from Elixir Gun, Mortar aa, Elixir Bomb could be silver-oozy with Jaggernout.

So far ANet’s coding looks like a big mess for me. A recent example – they implement a tonic that supposes to make you immune to chill. After the patch, the tonic doesn’t work and prevents you from capping points in PvP and WvW.

I was just wondering, is Static Shield Throw affected by new legendary shield, or by updated projectile from Flameseeker Prophecies? Revanents now throw a book with that change.

Another ugliness: Juggernaut’s liquid metal effect and stealth don’t work together. Casting stealth gyro (= drawing weapon) applies both and gives the character a dull dark look. Stealth should be prioritized.
