Thanks for the advice, what kinds of stats should I look for on gear?
I am an Asura engineer. The idea of small people coming over their diminutive size and stand equal by engineering, building and using tools and weapons is a perfect synergy. Plus, I always play midgets..
But “recommendations”… It’s totally up to you. I started out with a rifle, but once I got the taste of up to 3 different conditions (bleeding, burning, poisoned) I rather wield dual pistols. I only use turrets when I need aggro to be splitted or to hoard (a bunch of mobs will attack the flame turret, I throw grenades (or shoot a poison shell at them from the grenade launcher) at them, use the pistols blowtorth and then equip the flame thrower to make a bunch of accumulating numbers appear).
The gameplay styles are so different that I really recommend you to try it everything by yourself. There are no disadvantages. What you see in the first levels is what it will be like in the later levels, too. So if you can’t stand pistol(s) at Level 20, screw it and try the other way. Or use your tools only etc.
Engineer is a wonderful class.
and politically highly incorrect. (#Asuracist)
“We [Asura] are the concentrated magnificence!”

should try bomb kit and basically anything that gives you power and precision will work
Yea it’s true that with power nade build you need more experience. If you want to be good engineer, first you must learn swaping kits.
Traits: explosive-up/middle/up
Tools: up/up/middle (stream kits is your blessing for lvling. Perma swiftness. 20sec swift on swap kit (20sec cd))
Firearms: down/middle/middle
-you can find some builds on net. Try to find power granade build on dulfy. Rlly nice guide. This build is for more experienced engies i know," but sometimes you must first run before you learn walk"
But try everything. Trust me, batteric ram is now very useful in tarir event in hot. Only one skill you will use (meaby untill you get scrapper) everytime-healing turret. Learn deploy turret, fast overcharge turret and destroy turret (water blast extra heal).
Thats it. I am bad mentor (and have terrible english) but I’ll be happy if this poorly help you :-)
Btw: for lvling use berserker stats :-)
So.. I start play scrapper. "

If you are looking for a quick way to level up and providing you are not a new player: experience scroll + some crafting + boosters and Mad Kind Labyrinth. I managed to get my engineer up to 80 in just a few hours of gameplay. With a killstreak booster, it is fairly easy to get 10-12 levels in an hour in the labyrinth. Just run around with the flamethrower and mark every mob
I’m an asura. I think they are the best match for engineer personally; their culture prizes science, inventions and ingenuity which are what engineers are about.
I play as a scrapper, the hammers are small but they have great animations.
The labyrinth is the fastest leveling right now.
