Guild Wars 2

I’m just returning to GW2 after a long break (played around release). I have a lvl40 Engineer that I’m thinking of using as my main and I had a couple of quick questions:

1. What weapon should I be using? I’m currently using a two handed rifle – I’m not involved in any groups and will be mostly playing solo for now.
2. Is there anything I should know about this class? Is there anything you see inexperienced Engineers doing that I should avoid?
