Looking for a good P/P + Turrets approach
I used to run a dual-Pistol Turret Engineer, before I switched to Rifles. Also tried Elixirs, but don’t really like them, so I stick to Turrets. As such, I’d like to think I might be able to help, so here goes.
Tip #1: Combo Fields. Healing Turret creates a Water field during each firing cycle, and the Flame Turret can be used to create a Smoke field with its overcharge. Turrets, when detonated, create a Blast finisher, which means you can create an AoE Heal effect and an AoE Stealth effect with ease – as long as your timing is up to it. You could also use a Thumper Turret for the Blast finisher, if you wanted.
Tip #2: Keep your distance. I’m not sure if it’s turret engineers or engineers in general, but it seems like I get more aggro than anybody but thieves. This can make fighting incredibly irritating, if the enemy happens to hit hard – but most enemies hit hardest when they’re near, so be liberal in your Glue Shot usage, and perhaps consider the Net Turret for two additional bits of control.
Tip #3: Toolbelt Skills. Turrets have long cooldowns and zero mobility, but the toolbelt skills they bring can be incredibly handy, depending on your playstyle.
Tip #4: Traiting. Don’t bother with Autotool Installation unless you’re farming, Deployable Turrets only works with two turrets, and kittens one of their toolbelt skills. Accelerant-Packed Turrets doesn’t activate Explosives traits, but is handy, and Rifled Turret Barrels is also somewhat useful.
