Hi, I’m fairly new to engi and mildly confused by it’s mechanics. I’m looking for a WvW build that focuses as heavily as possible on condition damage anr revolves around grenade kit and maybe the healing support of the elixir gun. I intend to use a precision/toughness/condition armor, not quite sure about runes, sigils and accessories yet. I’m open for all other suggestions and tips, help me out.

Grenades and EG really have no synergy.

You could do Grenades with either 409/HGH or Kits. I’m giving the kit version a try as of last night. Basically Korishi’s, but with Rocket Boots instead of Bomb Kit. I want to like Bomb Kit, but without stability I’ve been having trouble getting good results out of it.

Here’s my story. Hit 80 and geared up a set of full Zerker and a WvW set of full Rabid. Ran with zergs for a while in Rabid and got discouraged as it just wasn’t very effective. With even a few coordinated players in a zerg they can wipe conditions very easily. My Rabid is sitting in the bank and I either run Zerker or Knights in WvW now as I get more actual kills.

Rabid is quite effective in small group skirmishes and PvP though. I personally like 30/10/0/10/20 with Hair Trigger, Invigorating Speed, Speedy Kits and Speedy Gadgets. Medkit, Rocket Boots, Slick Boots and Grenade Kit. Rifle for power, P/S for Rabid.

Not meant to dissuade you from running the build but if your resources are limited you may wanna test it out with yellow gear first.

I agree about bomb kit and can’t see myself using it. Tool kit is a good idea especially for WvW (pulling ranged people down from their tower) but I don’t understand why elixir gun and grenades don’t work together (even the guide says it could). I also think that rifle is a better option for grenades despite not being a condition weapon because of the 10/8sec cooldown immobilize and the AoE ground shot for the extra mobility.

@Bloodgruve, I play FoW, small group skirmishing is most of what we got. I rarely see big zerg fights unless its a weekend and a very busy hour. So I guess it’s alright

for the record, I do have enough funds for another exotic sets and was intending to buy a sentinel and some sort of power sets anyway.

Yea, that’s the build. I use GK/TK/RB. What I meant by lack of synergy is that there aren’t any common traits like there are with FT. EG is great situationally (especially for the stun break), but I’d rather slot something that’s useful 100% of the time. What works for me may not work for you, so to each their own.

For a bunker build in sPvP I’ll run P/S HT/BK/TK/EG though. That’s fun.

You don’t generally take Rifle in a condition build. You want the Poison, Confusion and Blind as well. In this case you opt for the Shield for utility/defense over off-hand Pistol.

I think people may underestimate the effectiveness being able to spam weakness on EG auto attack along with bleed stacking.

If you were willing to give up ToolKit (I’m not) EG can be fairly synergistic with a P/P HGH Condi build.

Still not very sure about the P/S and I’ll have to see how TK and healing turrent work (never have tried them before), but the build seems to have a problem with cleansing massive conditions especially when mobile/on the run.

What do you think?

The only way you’re gonna get around massive condition application is 409 (and a lot of elixirs), which is not an option in a kit build.

This is essentially what I run, but why not take Hair Trigger? Bring Static Shot down to 12 sec, and besides Vulnerability doesn’t affect condition damage.

I like vulnerability for the overall damage of my zerg, this is WvW after all and I’m using a high crit rate set anyway.

For the build; first of all, I really don’t get along with healing turrent, despite all the regeneration (LOVE the toolbelt skill) it just gets wrecked way too fast to be combat effective at WvW. I love Tool kit but to be honest I don’t think I’m good enough at this class yet to control 2 kits and a weapon set, which makes me want to withdraw to a simple HGH grenade condition build for now.

Best use of the healing turret is to double tap to drop/overcharge immediately and pick it up immediately. Blasting is ok if you are in trouble but gives a longer heal cd. The point is to not leave it out so it can’t get blown up.
