Hey mates !

First of all I’m French, so please excuse me for my english (…and my president)
Actually, i’m creating this post for two reasons.
I’m a pve player, i’ve been discovering and playing engi and I’ve got to say that I LOVE this profession , and I Over-love the engineer community.
Thank you for your work because you make this profession so interesting and soooo fun.
But it’s not about the technique and gadgets, in game engineers are always volunteer to answer some questions and I feel like i’m talking to a bro So Thanks , here is the #1 of my Love Kit !

Ok let’s be more serious now : I’m a pve player , doing dungeons and open world, and i’m discovering the condi engi , especially with burn because it’s awesome
I’m running with FT , Nades & Bombs , sometimes Mortar to give more support and combo fields.
My questions is : Is it better to go with Sinister stuff or the stuff that gives Precision – Toughness – Condition Damage ( Rabid ? )

Thanks for reading & for your helpful advices dear fellows !
(And again sorry for my language , here’s a cookie.)

Well, at the moment, Sinister would be the most efficient option. This is mainly because it offers power, for big hits on things like Pistol #2 and the Mortar skills, the precision to proc things like incendiary powder, and the condition damage for… well… for the condition damage. Notice it’s all offensive stats.

But with raids coming soon (in HoT), sinister might not be the best option, since they’re gonna be a lot harder than the current dungeon/fractals. I have a rabid/dire mix set that I can use for the occasional Silverwastes run, but that I can also use for things like WvW, where protective stats are a must.

If you want to get a Sinister set, start off with a Rampager set, since the Sinister insignias are pretty heavily time-gated.

Maximum damage will always be: primary damage stat, 2 secondary damage stats. A pure condi build will still benefit greatly from power added in through Sinister stat combos. As for survivability, HappilyInsane is absolutely correct (and also correct about Rampager too). Raids and high-level fractals may require survivability that simply dodging cannot provide, so the additional toughness from Rabid or vitality from Dire will help you without affecting your condition damage at all. Condition builds might be more useful in this regard because they heavily rely on one stat for most of their damage whereas power builds rely heavily on three stats.

Well i got 2 Engineers .One is full zerk, just for fun and also ,because mostly a fight doesnt take ,that long at all to try to build conditions on them, but yeah , that glassyness is kind of annoying.I may think for Hot to go for knight or soldier or may going for conditions?

My second engineer is almost full rabid, but it’s mixxed abit with Sinister.I don’t think Sinister is that cool at all ,after hot ,especially , if they want to kill Zerk.I mean i think it’s nice (never had full sinister gear so far) , but it’s more or less like being glassy as Zerk and you just try to do your damage with conditions ,which can be screwed up sooo easily ( just my opinion so far and keep in mind im not that good).I’m experimenting around with those conditions and enjoy them , but i think , if they would nerf burning , which seems like it is our main damage condi source.we got only bleeding and poison , which i manage to tick around 1,5 k and 2 k compared to burning 2k-5k.Also it feels really sensitive.

Anyways i would recommend to use rabid gear.It gives you toughness ,precision and condition damage. Also Pinpoint Distrubition will love you for this and with bunker down you gain a lot of sustain.
