Lovers of all things Engineer
Playing an engineer means applying incendiary ammo out of combat in WvW even though you don’t run flamethrower.
It means having more skills available at any given time than anyone else (and not just kit builds).
It means using a fire field and four blast finishers out of combat, just because we can.
Oh, and slick shoes.
The engineer life chose me.
Seriously I can’t be bothered to play whatever dark mage, barbarian paladin or wannabe assassin the game has to offer, which is why I’ve been hanging out with my tiny charr engineer since the release. You build just about anything your engi and you can surprise everyone. Something that you can rarely do with most of other classes.
A) I liked the skills in beta, and fell in love with the giant powder keg that is “Big Ole Bomb”.
B) The combination of a pistol and a shield
C) The fact that it seemed so ignored by the other beta testers made me want to come out and kick there tail with the profession they ignored or demed under powered.
D) At the time I chose the profession, I looooooooved gadgets, particularly slick shoes and person battering ram (not withstanding the ridiculously long CD they had back then.)
E) The tool kit. when I entered the water and saw box of nails turned into “Box of Piranha’s” and thought to myself, "now thats a cool name for a skill, and a cool skill effect.

Funny skills, funny skill effects, alot of ways to use any skill.
Originality, hardly seen in any other proffesion. Paladins, warriors, warlocks, hunters, assasins, mages – all has been done before. PUT SOME MINES, GRAB GRENADES AND WATCH YOUR ENEMY ’XPLODE!
Engineer is also really original character to make in role play way – it might be either alchemist, wishing to cure the world, a builder, wanting to improve everyone’s life or simply not-exactly-sane person, loving explosions. Regardless if used to kill, destroy or help.

I like this comment. Role playing the whole “not right in the head, demolitions expert”.

Came here a while back from my ele and it just feels….free. I guess that seems a bit broad but “free” is the only word I can justify using. I mean christ one of our few Engi mottos is “If you can justify the points for it, it’s a viable build”.
Other than that I chose it due to being able to equip a shield.
Adaptability
Rarity
Being the best healer in the game
And the mottos…
Trust me, I’m an Engineer
If you can justify the points for it, it’s a viable build

Another reason I love engineers is because of the subtle truth to this
Yet as what feels to be one of the most neglected professions, we still kick tail.

I like playing the different profession. In LOTRO I played a Warden, and I loved tanking raids with it when people said it wasn’t a good tank class. It was also a high skill cap class.
I love playing the Engineer because early on it was the profession people said couldn’t do certain things. I play the Engineer because I can do anything I want. I enjoy the high skill cap as well.
Don’t get the skill cap comments confused with me thinking I’m some spectacular player or anything. I just like there to be a lot for me to learn when I play. You could say I don’t really want it to be straight forward, I like solving puzzles. Nearly 1800 hours later and I still learn things about the Engi.

I like it because so many skills, so many colors and above all I get to flamethrower people!
- Variety. I swear this class has endless builds and can pretty much play every role. 10 points from one line to another changes everything.
- Playstyle. Pretty high skill ceiling (through kits), high risk/reward, good control etc and can be build for very good damage. I’m sure engis know the feeling when you pull off something great.
- Theme. Gadgets and kitten. Can’t go wrong.
really bad engineer
because i am an engineer
