I’m just kind of throwing this one out to you guys for suggestions. The one class I don’t have a character for is Engineer, and it seems like the perfect candidate for using that Experience Scroll I got. My current characters are a Charr Necromancer (main), Ausra Guardian, Charr Ranger, Sylvari Warrior, Human Mesmer, Charr Elementalist, and Norn Thief.

For the Charr, each one is in a different legion, hence the number of them.

So, what race would you guys suggest for my Engie?

Asura…we’re better than all the others!

A flamethrower Sylvari! Because it makes a lot of sense

ASURA! Engineers of other races are all BOOKAHS! Asura all the way baby…

As a Sylvari lover, I made my Engineer Sylvari, and I never regretted it. Engi’s a ton of fun, and being Sylvari made me love it even more simply because that’s my favorite race. But I also do a lot of WvW, and Sylvari Racials are just amazing for it. You get a 7 second Immobilize, which is also a 2 second toolbelt Block that can be reduced by points in the Tools line. The Seed Turret is very nice, and becomes a 900 range knockdown on your toolbelt; great for catching runners(Especially if you do Turret + Roots, as you can knockdown then immob). And of course, you can’t forget the elites. Fern Hound is amazing for applying Bleed/Poison (Circumstantial, ofc), Take Root is great for the invuln and several seed turrets. Haven’t used the Druid Spirit, but I plan to!

Our elites also synergize with a CCgineer, since as I mentioned you can chain even more knockdowns and immobs into your rotation.

Also: Asura Racials SUCK. So Sylvari, Sylvari Sylvari. Sylvari all the way baby (See what I did thar?)

Silly Charr, Kits are for Asura!

Sylvari because the racial skills are actually good. It’s pretty important considering our only reliable Engineer elite is Supply Crate, which doesn’t work too well in Boss Fights.

The Sylvari elite “Take Root” on the other hand, saved my kitten many, many times because it is an “oh kitten” button you could easily press for 3s invulnerability.

Not to mention Grasping Vines is a great 7s immobilize which PIERCES Legendary Imbued Flame Shaman’s shields (being one of the few abilities to actually immobilize him in shield form), as well as applying 7 tics to his shield to break it.

Summon Druid spirit is also useful and underrated, because it also applies Grasping Vines to its targets, as well as REMOVING CONDITIONS off allies, and REVIVING them!

Engineers are the 3 wheel of the universe. Just pick whatever and it fits.

True. I did mean Flamethrower. Nothing says Engineer to me like a big cat with a flaming weapon. Since I don’t use Swords, I’ll happily mow down targets with a burning stream of flaming death.

I made a Sylvari Engi. I actually dislike Sylvari, but I have 3 humans, 2 norns, and I want 1 of each of the other races. Soooo I decided to make a Sylvari with a mohawk because I was messing around with armor pieces and such and realized sylvari in some SE armor and abyss dye will look like a complete evil kitten…. holding a flamethrower

asura/charr; i kept getting mine to 30 then deleting it and remaking as the alternate race… i think ive finally settled on asura though

… i hate sylvari engis but i can see that they might be ‘interested’ in engineering and decided to follow it or something… still creeps me out though

Smaller races have tiny, unintimidating looking flamethrowers. Pick Norn or Charr to have a flamethrower that covers the screen in fire. Obstruct the enemy’s sight. Obstruct your sight! Or pick an Asura and everytime you use a flamethrower, cry a little on the inside because it’s so tiny, losing the vision obscurring effect the larger races get.

Flamethrower auto kinda sucks real bad though, so, yeah, pick whatever.

Asura FTW. Small but devastating . . . and they get the best lines.

Now if we could only get Asura designed Eng gear, cause the stuff we carry looks like it came out of Charr workshop.
