The following is not my idea, but i wanted to share it anyway. It’s something i thought would be cool and unique in lieu of our disapointment of the Scrapper. A specialization we felt lacks an identity to really make it stand out and set it apart from the Engineer.

Mechaneer would get “weaponswap”, but kits are removed as a utility skill. All kits and weapons can be equiped in a single “slot” of the mecha. The mecha has two slots, mainhand and offhand.

The weapon/kit in the MH grants it’s first 3 skills, the weapon/kit in the OH grants its last 2 skills. In case of the Shield it can only go in the OH as it has no MH skills, unless Shield would be the “elite weapon” and get MH skills.
Weapons and kits would essentially be more like mods to the Mechapack.

This would result in bringing down the number of potential weaponskills the Mechaneer has to a standard 10 with swap. But it would give a great amount of freedom to diversify what exactly is in those 5 weaponskills each set has.

For example you could have a Flamethrower in the “MH”-slot and a Rifle in the “OH”-slot.
Your skills would be:
1. Flamejet
2. Flame blast / Detonate flame Blast
3. Air Blast
4. Overcharged Shot
5. Jump Shot

For your second weaponset you might like Elixirgun in the MH and the Mortarkit in the OH:
1. Tranq. Dart
2. Elixir F
3. Fumigate
4. Flash Shell
5. Elixir Shell

This is just an example. Toolbelt skills can be freely chosen (with the exception of Bandage Self or everyone would pick two healing skills). Other kit toolbelt skills can as a result still be equiped despite kits not being in a utility slot anymore. No thought on what the “elite weapon” or “elite utility skills” would be.

The elite skill could be you equip a mecha suit giving you unique abilities, kind of like lich form where the necro becomes a big leech, the engineer would become a big robot. I also thought about some of the skills that could be fun:

Autoattack – throw sprockets at your target.

Missile launch – your mecha suit locks on a target launching a missile barrage that follows them and explodes on contact.

Overheat – makes an explosion at your location burning and blowing away enemies.

So at first I was like “Stupid idea” then I thought about this mad idea. And now I’m not sure if I like it or you just blinded sided with the idea of becoming/operating a mech. Well played sir
