I was so happy about the change and wanted to test it right away, but happyness left me fast when I noticed that I barely could heal anyone but in a stacked corner in a dungeon …
240 ø is what it still cripples the trait. That’s extremly small for a support skill that wants to reach many allies in a wide area. All shouts or heal skills like soothing mist etc have so much more range. Drop a fire bomb and you see what I mean (same range), you have to stay too close to your target.
I suggest to increase the ø from 240 to 360.
Maybe in PvP where fights are centered around cap points the 240 is ok?
But yeah pretty useless for WvW, part of what makes the guard so strong is all his shouts, empower etc are all on a 600 radius. The virtues used to be 1200 but were nerfed recently back to 600.
The support for the engi is all 240 which is kind of amusing, SD(soothing detonation) is clearly meant to enhance our blasts but isnt even the same radius as a blast finisher. Why? And MDF needs a larger AoE to see play in WvW id imagine, same as a blast finisher would be fine.
Yup that too. MDF will become worth it when:
Also SD should indeed be buffed radius too, and IMO also better hp scaling (about 0,5 at least)
Yup that too. MDF will become worth it when:
- increased radius
- heals allies for the ammount you should have healed (it would still work when at 100% health)
- trigger off Backpack regen

those are some great ideas, especially the backpack one!

It seems V was not checking my reply to his post about MDF in the other threat.
MDF currently does proc from backpack regen & all other passive heals.
It’s simply bugged to not show up in the combat log properly.

I did check your post in other forums and investegated it. It does not heal properly as it is healing me for 117 without hp, allies are healed for 7. Thats not 20%

It was working just fine with correct numbers after the patch.
Gonna wait until my guildies come online to test it again in our PvP-arena.
Some questions tho: where did you test it? PvE, PvP, WvW? Were all allies lvl 80? If PvE, were you in a zone / dungeon that scaled you down? Did anyone have poison or agony on them?

This was done in the Crucible of Eternity. There was no necro there so it wasnt vampiric aura. No poison either.
I will also test again this afternoon and if it still happens I will show evidence, altho I am hoping to prove myself wrong

You’re probably wrong. I tested and backpack regen and most of the heals don’t trigger the MDF. I tested on PvP and it definitely doesn’t trigger with the backpack regen. Doesn’t trigger with the regeneration boon either. Doesn’t seem to trigger with water fields combo, but seems to trigger with the water field heal and also seems to trigger. Using it in dungeons convinced me this trait is not good, since there are areas where people stack it’s easy to confirm the distance is not why MDF doesn’t trigger, it just doesn’t for most heals. Do this, go to a dungeon with MDF, enable the Combat logs to show up on the chat and see how many MDF heals… I wasn’t able to see a single heal from MDF only regeneration boon for me and allies or regeneration backpack for me. IMHO Bunker Down is WAY better to heal allies

Yea, tested it in PvP as well.
This time the results were negative entirely. Regen & backpack regen do not get considered.
bummer :/
I also made some tests in this Beta-weekend, and it seems to not trigger with
But apparently I would trigger on
I hope it’s not a bug that passive healing isn’t triggering MDF. Guards can also skill their virtue to passive heal in a Range (~400/3s =133/s), so why not have backpack-regenerator(~150/s) and rapid regeneration (~150/s to ~450/s when on super-speed) heal allies by 20% (600/s*0.2=120/s) per second?
It seems to be bugged, though. It still has the 5s ICD, or maybe its just the beta characters using an old game build.
Basically if you use healing turret MDF will only proc at the first heal, not on the second one and not on the blast. Moreover, it doesnt work on regeneration unless you use it during the 5s ICD window: I was haling for 7 hp, yes seven, thanks to MDF and regen but it didnt proc when I used my haeal skill.
Have to test that ingame. But we’re getting sorta offtopic here. Na – let’s just call it a “how to improve medical dispersion field” thread
