Message from a Ranger
There seems to be a breach in the containment perimeter…
If indeed your gyros (I kek as I write this because in the UK a ‘gyro’ is another word for a welfare cheque coming through the post from the government lol)… anyway if indeed your gyros are AI-based in the same way the Ranger’s pet is, you guys are going to have to be absolutely savage with your feedback after the BWE because otherwise you’ll not be listened to for 3 years and will be stuck with a broken profession mechanic, especially seeing as, judging by the written reveal, you will have even more limited control over gyros than the current Ranger has over its pet.
On a brighter note… totes jelly that hammer basically makes you guys Thor tho.
When I read ‘gyro’, this is what I thought of:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyro_
And it looks more like these bots will be something that you activate for a specific purpose, rather than have them as something you just drop once and rely on for something as basic as dps.
They really seem more like utility-based phantasms on mesmer than ranger pets.

Broken skills on engineer release?? Why I would have NEVER expected that.
Nah quite the opposite really I am expecting lots of bugs on release so I wont be disappointed when it happens.
Also, third definition for gyros
I read kek and stopped reading.

i wish ranger would get hammer too and i could play a wow-shaman :-(
Ranger hammers should only come with tameable rabbits.
Jus’ sayin’.

Yeah, except a bit better because Utility Phantasms need to be targeted on an enemy and disappear if that enemy dies. It appears Gyros can be targeted to allies or else just launched from the Engy to do whatever. So they seem more like Spirit Weapons or Elementals that can have ally-targeted skills?

Ranger you are drunk! Go back to your forums!
All Ai is going to be revamped for Heart of Thorns and the only reason Rangers are even close to good right now in PvP is because of how good their pets are. So I’m not going to drink your bitter cool-aid, thanks but no thanks.

Same. You can always tell when someone’s only here because they’re banned from /v/.

If that’s the comparison you like?
Point is, they’re different from what we’ve seen so far, so cynical assumptions based on ranger pet mechanics don’t necessarily apply.

You must be pretty bad at PvP then if you’re saying the pets are the reason Ranger does alright in the game mode. Ranger pets are by far the weakest class mechanic of all the professions. They have bad AI, suffer from pathing issues, and die so easily to cleave damage alone in every game mode it’s not even funny. On top of that the majority of pets see barely, if any, use, because either their F2 ability is bad or mediocre compared to a pet in the same family (say like Fern Hound vs Wolf, for example) or the whole family is mediocre/bad compared to other pet families (Why use a Devourer when you can use a Spider, for example). In PvP the BM traits for the pet are strong (if used with melee pets with low F2 cd’s). The pets themselves range from alright to just plain bad.

One of the popular builds in GW1 as ranger was going primary ranger/secondary warrior with a hammer and a pet. That setup was called “Bunny Thumper”.

Please do not insult me. Do you know how I play and who I’ve played against? How can you tell I’m bad at pvp just because you don’t share my opinion?
The reality is, pets are better than they were a year ago and if you know how to use your pets well, they won’t die so easily. So please, don’t insult me.
