Mine field blast - has been removed or????
Yep, it’s no longer a blast finisher. Just noticed it too.
I am very dissapointed, its a great spell….. Maybe for sPvP but why remove it for WvW/PvE
Engi get things nerft and nothing happens to the flaws and bugs the engi has, very disappointed about that. I think i will drop my engi until it is playable.

Too bad. It was the only decent way I could give my group retaliation in wvw, for when we are getting slammed through walls, gates and other obstacles.
Are you serious? I am getting fed up now. BoB is no longer a blast finisher, and now this? What the hell are they doing to this class? They haven’t even fixed any of the bugs that severely weaken the class so now they just detract more?
I’m so close to dropping my Engineer. I could probably switch and get something else to 80, then come back to Engie when they fix all of their bugs.

Nerfed hard, many were relying on that to buff their allies or heal. Very unfortunate. I’ll see how it plays out, but sincerely, it was the only thing that I was enjoying about playing Engineer → doing all I could to reap maximum benefits from Combo Fields.

Anyway, I saw this nerf coming from a mile away.
Why? Because history repeats itself.
You kids might not remember this, but the ‘mines’ used to be the ‘mine kit’, which gave you 5 blast finisher mines in the form of a kit. Well, that was being used in sPvP and WvW for cheesefest stealth, retaliation, might and whatever. It was abuse.
And, this is abuse too. 5 blast finishers in a short duration, is just abuse. The only difference between the kit days, and today, is that the kit days were more efficient at it.
Now, you had no control of where the mines spawned, and it was on a larger cooldown, but fundamentally, the flaw of ‘5 instant blast finishers’ remained.
Don’t be surprised guys, its just Arenanet going through some Deja Vu.
Could’ve given it a single blast finisher instead of completely removing it.

Like i said in the other, mostly ignored thread:
I expected this, but its a pity. With Smoke Bomb and Detonate Mine Field it was possible to Cloak you and everyone around you for 15 seconds. While this may be not intended and (too) powerful, it was awesome and i had a kittenload of fun with it, especially in WvW but also in PvE, where i could sneak up or through enemys.
I will miss it.
If there is a “feature” in the game the devs think benefits the player, it will be fixed immediately. Any issues that hurt a player will be fixed when they have time.
I dont think this actually was an issue, it was fun and gave the engineer a creative way to bring in support for the group in from of AOE combos. the effects you can produce via combos are not that strong, have very limited duration on a 45s long cooldown and you have to give up a utility slot for this which could be use for more damage or CC.
in no way were the effects gamebreaking or frustrating for other players. removing this just dumbs down the engineer even more to the 3 viable builds (pistol condition, power rifle or grenade spam) because everything else does not work as it should or is just bad due to clunky mechanic. the devs should instead focus on fixing the bugs.

I hoped they would see it the same way as CptCosmic, but i was pessimistic about it.
He has a point though, many engineer abilitys are useless, elixiers are mostly random and weak and/or on high cds, turrets are so squishy they die in instanzes very quickly where they could provide long range dps where engineer is lacking.
Some like rocket boots are very limited and have awful sideeffects (the distance gained is easily covered by someone until you can move again) or are on high cds, like slick shoes which are fun(if you came in the rare situation its useful) for 2 seconds and then you have to wait 58 (+ the time that passes until you ran into a situation where you can use it with effect).
Others like the rocket turret have a 60 secs cd on the turret planting and 60 on the toolbelt ability. For a thing thats stationary and that dies in seconds not good at all, but you can at least get a BIT long range dps and burst out of it.
Mostly Kits are just more versatily and reliable and gadgets, elixiers and turrets are lacking.
There are many cool abilities, dont get me wrong, but there are also many just outright useless ones.
I just wonder how long it will take them to figure out that the overheat rocket turret ability can knock down even champions with defiant charges up and that that is too much. (ups i revealed it^^)

It’s just absolutely asinine. Why are they changing things related to balance, questionable balance at best, instead of fixing the copious amount of bugs plaguing the Engineer?
Seriously. I want to know. What justifies that?

With 3 buttons you could easily heal over 16k in less then 2 seconds.
Mine Field → Regenerating Mist → Detonate mines x 4 = 4 heal waves, each being around 5-6k.
There’s plenty of posts on this forum boasting about this, and even some builds posted that abused this, if you think this wouldn’t get noticed your being extremely daft.

I’ve got no problems with the change; like others have said, it was obvious it was coming. But doling out nerfs without fixing any of the bugs that have been there since the BWEs? Ridiculous.
They’re basically fixing the positive bugs, and leaving the negative ones there.

It’s easier to “disable” something then look between millions of lines of coding to find 1 number that is currently wrong.
The fact of the matter is: it lead to some combo field abuse.
Also, engineer is still plenty playable and quite a few things were improved since beta, stop acting like this is the end of world.
I guess ‘exploits’ take top priority and functionality and balance is somewhere after that.
They’re coming for your grenades next!
