1) it would be nice if mortar becomes a kit….idk how OP that would be, but honestly it is about time we get an elite that is worth using other than supply depot.
2) mortar kit is good in itself, but if you are using it in WvW, if people see it they will rush it and it pops in a few hits. If it worked like a kit, you ckittene it when your in good range and nuke people from afar, then switch out when they get close, that way your not wasting it after a few shots.
3) You will still not be able to move while on the mortar kit, so……if you need to run you just switch kits/weapons and run….then use it again when you get in range.

The stability is good on the mortar kit, no changes needed for it since you cant move while using it anyway.

Making a change like this to Mortar Kit, may make Engineers at least useful for WvW zerg fights….since Supply Depot is worthless outside the 2 sec stun, which ise useless on hammer trains.

If you dont want mortar to be a kit….you can make the cooldown extremely low then, 30 or 60 seconds perhaps, but still have a 30 or 60cd duration…idk anet plz do something to help engis be more useful in wvw.

It is by far the worst Elite existed in game and after almost 2 years no changes has bee made.

You are immobile, the distance is crap, the damage is unacceptable, the CD is long, you’re completely opened to any assault, all of those functions are unacceptably bad.

A better way to make this Elite skill viable:

1. Change Mortar into a kit, you can activate and deactivate any time you want w/o any CD, but you’re immobile while activating it.

2. Increases the Range of Mortar to 2000 range consider this is an immobile device, increase the radius to 600 for each skills. It should act something like a mini arrow cart.

3. Increase the base damage of ALL 5 skills to about triple of current damage.
Increases #2 skills to apply 2 stacks of bleeding every tick.
4th skill now causes both freezing and poison.
5th skills causes knock-back AND knockdown

4. When activating Mortal, you get constant stability, protection, and regeneration.
The effect disappeared as soon as you cancel the kit.

By making the above changes, this skill will finally be viable to engineer who enjoy sieging from far away.

ok your #1 is the same as what i mentioned the rest are iffy, could be overpowered….just having it be a kit makes it extremely useful in itself.

But hey it’s useless even in PVE immobile fight!
It really need a re-overhaul of everything.
It should at least be stronger than a grenade kit! (And you’re mobile while in grenade)
You can’t target melee range with this kit too!
All these designs show that this elite needs to deserve better treatment.

Its interesting because the Mortar really is the “kitten Utility Grenade ‘kit’” as-is.

1 is still basic damage.
2 is still damage with bleeding (Bonus: cripple!).
3 replaced AoE blind with AoE healing.
4 is still chill (Bonus: ice field!).
5 replaces AoE poison (and poison field) with a knockback with extra projectiles.

This idea is so wrong, but I find it hilarious.

Scrap the mortar, and replace it with an over the top shoulder cannon.

1. Reduce the duration to 60s, while CD is still 120s
2. Keep the stability and skills
3. Add animation for reloading (4 shots before reload).
4. Decrease combat speed while wielding by 15%
5. add 400 toughness while wielding
6. increase skill aoe radius to 300 on all skills.

As Alucard (TFS Hellsing Abridged) would say, Kittens Love Cannons!

Thing is Krisztian, its gonna be easier for a change if Anet revamps 1 skill. If they make a new Elite Skill for an engi, they will have to make 1 new elite for every class.

@Aomine, i played around with mortar kit in WvW last nyt and well even when traited with elite supplies, the damage seems lackluster, slow to fire and all, that i preferred to spam grenades instead. So yeah maybe a bit more upgrade in the Damage and Crowd Control department to the Mortar Kit would be nice, make it an actual Elite Skill feel, kinda like how Supply Depot feels like in pvp/wvw roaming.
