Mortar to slow, nades reta issue in WvW
You could argue that retaliation is a bit too strong, but on the flip side it’s pretty much the only downside to abilities that have more chances to proc on-crit and on-hit effects.
And I’m fine with the mortar speed. It’s meant for shelling slow-moving targets and/or swarms of enemies, you’re not really supposed to be accurately shooting at single fast targets. I would like to see skill 1 get a bigger radius, but I’m not sure it’s absolutely necessary to make the kit useful.
I lose around 40-50% of my health just from reta, since every nade you throw procs a reta instead of every nade skill. To me that just isn’t fair, and makes the otherwise really good medium ranged kit useless in WvW.
Ever played a ranger and tried a barrage into a zerg with retal?
Retal should be removed from the game period! It’s a kittenty passive that’s WAY too strong in zerg fights especially. On my Necro I just popped a couple of marks and wells on a zerg from the backline and took 37 hits of retal for about 10k damage. Not a single hit on me and yet, almost half my health gone?
This has been raised for YEARS, but because wvw balance doesn’t matter to Anet at all this problem with retal will never get a look in, as it doesn’t affect spvp.
There is a very simple fix, 1 second internal cooldown on retal damage received, problem solved. Will it ever get dev attention? Highly doubtful, been 3 years and nothing much changed.
