Most stupidly overpowered build for engi's?
build depends on the role you have to play. I think turret builds can be a good choisce for being a tank over a point … not the best for midfight
if you play engi alot then you can master a build with several kits,
but if you don’t play engi alot then a turret build is about as OP as it gets.
just spam your weapon skills and turret overheat skills and watch things melt.
Well turrets are maybe kitteneap but while are there builds like hambow I cant complain.

I find the standard condition 3kit build with either TK/BK/EG or GK/BK/EG rather strong. I don’t dare to say overpowered though but it sure feels really strong and quite easy.
They are not weak, just that you are nailed stuck on 1 ABC spot. This is why i dislike such a build, becuase no matter how long and well you can hold a point by bunkering in, if your team suck bad and do nothing, you are bound to loose the match.
I prefer a roaming/supportive build to aid my team all over the map instead being glued to one spot. Nothing more frustrating to see you your team fail and nothing you can do.

well it took more then a year to finally see QQ-Thread about turrets other then the QQ from engis because they suck so hard.
As i said in BWE1, replace the turrets please with something useful. No matter how hard you try to balance them, they will never find thier way into PvE/WvW. The only viable niche for turrets is camping a point in spvp. So they are either op in point fights or no one cares about them.
I dont get why devs still bring this stationary pet-crap into MMOs but i also dont get why they bring Invisible super high damage classes in MMOs either. Both things suck in every MMO and dont work balance wise.
People seriously must be talking about PVP because turrets are everything but op in PVE, they don’t even make the cooldowns on par with pets/summons/traps of other classes even when we pick them up. Even the healing turret has an extra 5 full seconds to wait between condition removal sprays compared to the automatic 10 second interval options for other classes, and can be hit anywhere. It’s like mobs home in on where the turret is and attacks it first even through solid walls.

Every time I run decap, I remember that there are Hambows and minion master Necros out there as well, and I don’t feel so bad.

Turrets are part of the game, so better learn about how to counter them or stop complaining.
“HURR DURR turrets take no skill” or “HURR DURR nerf this kitten” will bring you nowhere but in downstate. And no, these new grandmaster traits do only very few to increase your own capabilities. You only have exactly 1 option when it comes to deal with turrets: learn how to overcome such a build.
Complaining about the player who uses it just lets you look petty, and complaining about a-net for not being able to balance the game properly is just as complaining about rain making you wet.
In the end you want to win the round, and if that means to use the “currently” most effective tool for the job, then you do it. Your “skills” – that you may not even have outside of the text-window – will not win the round for your team if you refuse to realize and work against or with every aspect of the game.
Ofc no-one is telling you what you have to like or not, and I can clearly see the point that these builds are maybe a bit dull for people who are used to high APM builds, but just as you have the right to play what you want, everybody else has that one as well.
Just a personal example:
Yesterday I was sparing with a friend who came up with multiple classes and builds against my current turreteer build. I did not loose a single round, regardless what he packed out, still we had fun and he actually learned how to put a lot of heat on me, resulting in multiple occasions where only pure luck saved me from going into downstate.
It was a private arena, tough the password is shared between multiple guilds, so not soon later 2 more people showed up in the middle of the night. 2 thieves, there for sparring as well, and in the beginning both of them were really friendly people. after a while one of them wanted to fight me and got burned down pretty quickly. He asked his pal about what he could do as a thief to counter this and after the other one looked into my build he just said that a thief has little to no chance and challenged me to duell his staff ele.
The fight was going approx 5 min, judging from how often my elite’s cooldown went through and it was a really close call, but finally I succeeded. Told him that the duell was fun, but instead of getting the same response, this guy suddenly started to rage in the chat like a child, complaining about that he
- actually is the better player
- does not accept to have lost against me (as I said, friendly sparring oO)
- thinks I’m a complete noob for running this build
- thinks that this would bring PvE to PvP (makes no sense whatsoever)
- a.s.o.
Seriously, this guy was raging that hard that I simply whispered his now silent friend some tips to bring pressure on turret builds and kindly left the arena.
You guys, all of you who complain about players who use turrets – you are exactly this guy. What exactly that means is up for your judgment, but I felt nothing but disgust for this raging child.
They are only annoying because no one has played them in earnest for over a year, and no one knows how to deal with them. Now they are all over the place, and as people learn how to play them well, we will see increasingly frustrating builds. I foresee condi/tank turret engies as being the thing that gets us nerfed next.

Necro golem rush. Lava font/meteor shower. Combustive shot. Just general cleaving. Rip turrets.

This.
Honestly I find turrets to be pretty overrated. They’re only good until they get bombed by AOE not to mention the limit you and force you to stay near one place. If you take out the rocket turret you take out their strongest attack and a knockdown, putting it on a 50s cool down. Honestly I find that there are more reliable builds out there than turrets.
I lost many games with turret build which I would have won with celestial rifle build. Nothing OP with turrets!
Rocket Turret and Pirate Parrot, best tag team NA…
Turrets only seemed OP because people didn’t know how to react to them.
This is the same problem that MM necros ran into. People used to complain about them a lot more than turret engineers. Now they don’t receive near as many complaints and are a lot rarer sight in PvP. This is because they are not as effective as they were when people didn’t know how to counter them. Playing an MM is now not as easy as it used to be. Of course, there will still be some players who struggle against them and cry OP. But now only those truly dedicated to perfecting the build can get the most out of their minions. Even then, they will still hit a wall that most other meta builds won’t, which is why you won’t ever see them in tPvP.
Mesmers, in general, have been suffering from this for sometime, now that everyone knows their tricks.
Back to turrets being OP. It’s a problem that will go away on its own as more players become comfortable fighting against them and then bandwagoners move on to something that can more consistently offer them wins, like hambows.
If used correctly the boons from turrets allow the engineer to be played as a pseudo ‘boon tank’ pistol/shield and the boon gains just increase exponentially for each other team mate around you.
I run Healing Turret, Rifle turret, Rocket turret and Thumper turret with clerics/settler gear and although the build lacks the complex versatility that comes from having kits to combo with etc, it is able to hold its own against most enemies, especially if they are high damage low survivability spec which is common in spvp.
In WvW, I run with givers gear and cleric jewels and it is perfect for small skirmishes (<10v10) and the buffs work well even when I run with commander tag particularly as you have access to 5 blast finishes consecutively.
(Sometimes net turret is better WvW as I can give over 5mins of aoe swiftness easy)
I don’t believe turrets are op, but the amount of boons you can dish out to 5 players really does give them the ‘area control’ potential they were intended to have from the start.
I would compare the build akin to the engineer equivalent of a boon guardian except your turrets give you 1500 range with the disadvantage of being static. Overall I think the experimental turrets work well and are suitably balanced.

Been trying to find a post featuring this build with no luck—mind linking me?
Returning player, just trying to see what the metas are nowadays, getting overwhelmed ; ;

Check here for WvW and here for PvP. The website also features other engineer related stuff.
I’ve been playing this build a lot. It’s insane. Engineer is probably my least played class at the moment, but it’s the only class I’ve managed to win a full 3v1 in SPvP. Turrets do crazy damage with this build, plenty of CC and a ton of boons.
With Turret set down + Elite you’re close to unkillable.

hmm with 4% on crit chance sigil of stregth is useless
(+ 20% crit on fury = 24% = 1 on kitten to make a crit and 60% on crit to gain might)
sigil of force is an alternative or sigil of purify for some cond clean on hit

Reminds me of “Low kicks are cheese mode. They shouldn’t be allowed!” from every 12 year old playing any new sidescroll fighting game ever.
Turrets are not OP, some ppl just cant stand it they dont have the skills to wipe them.
Learn to deal with it, no single build is supposed to take on every single build/class in this game. Turrets system might be plain stupid, but OP only to ppl that dont know how to use power bases AoE attacks…
As playing this class there are numerous meta builds from other classes i just cannot defeat, no matter how hard you try. These builds will always be above you unless you change your tactic of approaching them.
Similar to what I run for roaming.
s/d mines setup. Never gets old^^
I guess he could have even more fun with adding bunker down to his build
Sweet build XD can you post the skills(and items) at the editor?
Interesting mine build. Curious about what type of gear he is using to have that high of a crit rate. Probably close to full berserker with that amount of hp.
