Anyone else have to listen to the same false statements, and stereotypes saying you bring nothing to the table? When you in fact bring more than anyone else because you’re working twice as hard!
This is why I’m creating my guild the Engineer Preservation Society. A majority of Engi’s, but other classes also in it who welcome us with open arms I’m tired of being placed under this shadow in people’s minds that I’m no good.
I digress, had to get it off my shoulder. I’m sorry, I expect no responses.
Reminds me of that dredge Fractal where I cooked up some homemade stealth in order to engage the Bombs level more easily, the Mesmer next to me was like
“Yeah well look, if you’re not kittening happy with me you’re free to kittening leave, if you knew better you’d have just used your kitten elite and I wouldn’t have gone through this skill mess in order to get you through”
Of course, nobody will care if we can bring some safe ranged DPS with a Net on 7s cooldown for situations like the Fractal Dredge Boss or that we are very solid overall. People will literally make threads in here saying that the Engi is a waste of a class slot for everything. I’m not giving appreciations to all the FoTM’s I kill, no matter how overpowered we are.

you realize that by giving us kitten tools and make shift supplies for jury-rigging results, anet has actually fostered within us the disgruntled mechanic mentality and so we act as engineers while playing our engineers.

Only reason I’m making my own is because of Crystal Desert WvW play, I can’t wvw with another server’s guild. I’d be more than happy to join to say hi to some friendly engineers though

I do the same thing, I do an engineer’s version of shadow refuge and most players are like whaaaaaaat? engineers can do that? Your’e right though, even after I bring useful skills and decent gameplay, people still don’t have faith in me. They either still stick to their narrow minded opinions of us, or they increase their teasing just to fire me up lol. Either way, it’s aggravating and I’m always saving people’s butts in dungeons because I know how to survive, which isn’t an engineer ability, that’s just better skill than most casual players I suppose. Good to know someone is going through the same thing though

You guys must have terrible servers. Move on over to Tarnished Coast. I’ve been playing GW2 since launch, and I’ve never had anyone to have any issues with my class. I have no issues getting groups to do any of the content.

Actually, using gw2lfg.com, I get people from every server. It’s just sad because when I join a party, everyone usually frowns about it lol. I’ve had plenty of parties with people from TC though, Almost moved servers to tarnished coast, til I decided to stay on crystal desert.
I think people or parties that frown at engineers dont know kitten. Let me share with you some instances.
1. We put alot of conditions to make killing easier.
2. When we run to skip certain mobs, chill grenades and glue shot slows the mob allowing the party to move away quickly.
3. Elixir gun help remove plenty of conditions and provide a bit of healing and causes weakness
4. Elixir U gives us 5 sec of quickness which I use for rez. More effective then those guardians at times.
5. FT is extremely useful in Arah against the tar element.
6. Grenades and effective against turrets in arah even more so if you are a grenadier.
7. Wrench allows me to pull single enemies to my group. Important for managing areas in dungeons.
8. big ol bomb is effective in dungeons where you need to keep mobs off our party members when they are activating things.
9. supply crate turrets is effective if taking argo away from party members and giving them a little healing just to get away.
10. nades and bombs are excellent is assisting the reducing mob’s health
And all these i can do by changing my skills for a specific part of a dungeon without disadvantaging myself. The only think i find lacking in my build is faster endurance regen.
The only groups I have ever had problems getting into, are the ignorant ones. The ones that would have you gear checked for all zerker gear. Because people seem to have this mentality that zerker gear is how you win @ gw2.
Honestly, these teams are not the sort you wanna roll with anyway.
It’s because people want to do things fast. This is why 4 War 1 Mes Full Berserker is a thing. Maximum Damage Output to speed up their farming process. The idea that we do no damage resounds from everyone, even ourselves. By design, everything we do is, at most, second best. However, while we don’t make things faster, we sure do make them easier. I recently moved to Crystal Desert.
My old server (Sorrow’s Furnace) was absolutely awful at WvW but made up for it with pretty good PvE management. Crystal Desert was pretty much the opposite. We actually do pretty well in WvW. However, at any given time, 4 out of 5 of the statues in Orr are active. And whenever I’m working to capture something, Temple of Dwayna for instance, it’s 100% noticeable when I am the only Engineer doing support. Whenever I’m not on Elixir Gun constantly applying weakness, the rate of people being downed and defeated skyrockets. Toss Elixir R is the greatest instrument in revival ever. I picked up at least five people with that at Dwayna in a single throw.

Hey I’m on Crystal Desert too you should say hi! But yeah, I must say, I put most of my abilities on my skillbar to save my group’s life, because I know it will be needed. Elixir R is up there almost 90% of the time heh Makes you feel like a super hero picking those people up in seconds.
I’m seeing 2500 shrapnel grenades in PvE with full zerkers and two ascended rings. I dunno how that fares in the grand scheme of things, but when I used to do fractals the boss’ HP would plummet when my nades landed. It seemed like I did three times as much DPS as everyone else.
10 stacks of vuln with 4-7k grenades every second at a comfy 1000-1500 range is nothing to shake a tail at.

I don’t join farming runs, but even when I’m just trying to do my daily cof thing, they still expect it to be a farming run and kitten at the fact that I’m not doing a cof farming run lol. And then proceed to tell me to learn how to play because I’m an engi, and leave party, in which I’ll just block em and be done with it.
But say, even doing Fractals and stuff, people want all warriors, and mainly nothing else. Bleh, again, venting too much =/ sorry
