Don’t bother basing the build on the stats shown. I didn’t include runes or jewelery.
This is what I like for just going around areas trying to get 100% world completion. I do not know much about WvW, but I am sure I can just swap a few traits/skills and be okay.

Skill wise that’s almost what I’ve been using. I just use dual pistols, and use rocket turret instead of net. What made you go with rifle? As for traits, I still need to buy the second two books (level 70 right now and still just using the first rank of traits). I’ll have to give it a look later when I can actually see then in game.
Trait selection is mainly what I’m looking for with builds.

I am using this one myself mainly for grinding events in Orr; although I had quite a bit of fun with it in WvW too.

Thanks all. Will give it a try later when I get home from work (and finish my SAB runs).

Are those the armor/trinkets you use too? If so, is precision better than going for condition damage?

With Rifle, Net Turret, the tool-belt utility, AND the cripple on immobilize, you can keep a mob/player locked down. Plus, the rifle adds a CC removal with Overcharged Shot + a gap opener. An extra bleed with Blunderbuss for the extra 5% damage. And a gap closer + opener in Jump Shot.

Yep, that’s how I started out. I upgraded my amulet to an Ascended one at some point, but that’s the full basis of the build how I started.
Originally I had a full set of Rabid/Rampager but I wasn’t really impressed by it. Besides, the main bulk of damage with a FT is direct damage from my perspective; not condition. The Burning is just an added side-effect and my stacks of Might still offer me a pretty decent amount of additional condition damage. I chose high Precision mainly for the additional might-on-crit so I keep a nice stack of Might at all times. Lots of Might stacks = lots of additional condition damage.
Maybe it could be more viable to go condition if you’re swapping to your pistols all the time, but I usually just stay in my FT and watch the world in flames.

This is a build I came up with. Disregard the all but the traits, skills, and Carrion armor set. In this build I use HGH, FT and static discharge. You’ll be in FT 100% of the time unless you want to use Blowtorch and Poison Volley fro P/P. You just have to stack might and inflict them burns. Use your toolbelt skills off cooldown, etc.
Why are you guys using HGH over Deadly Mixture?
Why are you guys using HGH over Deadly Mixture?
Well, I’m no expert on damage potential and calculations; I just figured that the extra stacks of Might could be more beneficial overall. But truthfully I never really thought about it and might give it a try just to see.
To return the question; why are you using Deadly Mixture over HGH?
EDIT: Just checked the link in your signature and I’ll give Deadly Mixture a try.

To return the question; why are you using Deadly Mixture over HGH?
It’s generally considered that Flame Jet is modified by x1.5 your Power value.
Let’s say you had 2000 Power base value, which is about right for FT Engineers sitting on 7-8 stacks of Juggernaut in Berserker gear.
(969 × 2000 × 1.5)/2600 = 1118 damage
+15% by Deadly Mixture = 1285 damage
To match that, you would have to have your Power increased by 300, which is ~8.5
stacks of Might.
(969 × 2300 × 1.5)/2600 = 1285
With the Flamethrower, you’ve only got room for 3 elixirs on your bar—Elixir H, Elixir B, and Elixir R/C/whatever.
You would have to chug all of your elixirs just to match Deadly Mixture, never mind having the luxury of using them when they’re best situationally used or running the Med Kit or Healing Turret.

Ah, I see. That would appear to make Deadly Mixture more beneficial when mainly running with FT out (like me) and I could save my Elixirs for when I actually need them.

also, HGH limits your control options as an FT user because you have to sacrifice proactive utilities for reactive elixirs.
The FT is not a “reactive” weapon.
At most, elixir S, so you have one elixir giving you 2 stacks of might on a 48/60 second cooldown.
HGH builds are prime when you have 3 elixirs, two of which are fast and spammable, like H and C or U, and one utility like S or B.
You can get away with this when you have condi spike pistols or confusion toolkit worked in to the rotation, because your damage is very high, but the FT is not and never will be a high end dps weapon, it is not meant to be.
Frankly, juggernaut and any stacks from strength or battle are more than sufficient to add power to your ft and rifle, the FT’s value is in it’s crowd control, and ought to be given utilities to compliment this.
more info in my guide, too, about the FT as a control weapon.
if you are going a two kit route, though, my thread may not be as useful.

I use an elixir FT build for PvE: 0/30/0/30/10.
Traits – Precise Sights, Fireforged Trigger, and Juggernaut for the Firearms trait line. I grab Invigorating Speed, Cleaning Formula 409 and HGH for even more might stacking and condition removal in the Alchemy trait line. Finally, I grab Speedy Kits in the Tools trait line which essentially gives me on-demand vigor and swiftness. Very useful for both getting around and overall survivability.
Utilities: Elixir S, Elixir B, and FT (you can change the elixirs to suit your playstyle, whether its aggressive or defensive). Healing: Any work, but I use Elixir H. Elite: Supply Crate OR Elixir X.
For your weapon set it really doesn’t matter. It’s whatever you prefer, but I prefer dual pistols. I use Superior Sigil of Fire (Air works too, but I like the additional AOE) and Superior Sigil of Bloodlust.
