Need a nerf

Our ability to stack so many things that make us effective at decapping (mind you then you have no other practical use) is annoying.
It would be a simple very minor tweak to a trait or two.
Generally, the engineer is one of the most balanced and diverse classes in the game.
One reason you see such an abomination in PvP is that PvP has this abomination of small nodes or control points. This is ripe for all sorts of abuse. AE blankets the entire point. Knockbacks work artificially well as do any skills that keep you from being able to reach the point.
On the other side, the decap engineer is certainly NOT going to be helping win any points other than decapping. Overall, he is not that useful except in well coordinated play.
A tweak to accelerant based turrets would more or less bring things back in line.
You just need one less way of stacking knockbacks.
Assuming they nerf decap engineer (which really affects such a small part of the population), just afraid it will have a cascading effect on ALL other engineer builds, who are in no way considered overpowered.

I can see anything they do severely affecting power control, SD, and any build that invests heavily in Alchemy, be it for elixir traits or the passive defense traits.
Anything that nerfs power control or SD is totally unwarranted, though the alchemy trait line could use some toning down.

ArenaNet didn’t give a kitten when they nerfed Necromancers Dhuumfire for a certain build, so all builds using Dhuumfire had to suffer, both in PvE and PvP, so why should they give a kitten when they nerf Engineer? Fair has to be fair or they need to nerf classes differently.
Honestly the way a decap engi should be nerfed is by making nodes bigger. The build cannot kill anything, survives like any other bunker, and thrives on the fact that nodes are small.
Edit: For disclaimer I have never played a decap engi and never plan on it, but I do run some builds that use some of the same traits or skills.

I play since about 2 weeks mesmer… my ONLY other char is engineer. Thats the char i started out with, know the best and actually like the best aswell overall design and idea wise. THOUGH engineer compared to mesmer is dps wise, playstyle wise, buff wise etc like day and night. I am usually a pve only player.. but with the edge of the mists update i tried some wvw and had some chances to have 1 vs 1 battles with other players. And i am i complete and utter noob if it comes to that, with my engineer i had most humiliating and mood destroying days in the time i tried WVW with my engineer, yet with the mesmer i had actually a good time and even won 3 of the 5 one on one fights. Dont ask me for any specific build stuff… i dont look through all this things, i skill like i think its right and screw anything else. So yea.. back to the theme. Like i mentioned my first char is an engineer, basically the class that made my buy guild wars. Before i tried anything other then engineer i just thought “hey thats not that bad…well the turrets suck, the flamer is weaker then i think it should be.. but hey if i run it together with the e gun it works quite well”. Now that tried the mesmer (what is also a class meant to support from what i gather) im almost a little bit mad. The only clear weakness of the mesmer i can make out (with my own experience) is that it feels like you play a ming vase with cannons strapped to the sides. The seconds between the heal spell charging are intense as kitten…other then that the mesmer feels VASTLY superior to the engi to me. Much more range, much quicker replaceable “minions”, awesome and easy ways to interrupt the enemie and really cool stun attacks.
Nerfing the engineer even more? In my humble opinion… no.
In fact id encourage to buff kits like the flamethrower and the potions and fix\combine some gadgets to make them halfway on par with what other classes can do.
Disclaimer: Thats the opinion of a guy who does NOT run any “elite builds” (like all this auto attack grenade stuff or bomb kits things that are boring to play), does pvp or fully understands\enjoys wvw at this moment.

Here ya go if you wanna talk about it. No need to keep bumping this post up anymore.
Hrmm, I see many different builds floating around… are you referring to the condi-nade build, the decapping build, teldo’s far point assaulter… sd/ nades, there are a few others, which one in particular?
And if you want to get rid of an engi just sick a boon hate necro on them.
One of the thing’s I enjoy about this community is just how diverse our builds can be.

Yeah previous nerf posts were more entertaining. He could at least wrote “it didnt died when i pushed all buttons”
Engineer is probably more powerful than Mesmer. The meta build need a nerf. Every Engineer i see in PvP is using the same build.
I’d like to see references, I don’t even think I play the same build game to game. Let alone every engineer doing it. It’s not our style.
Balance doesn’t go on one profession is probably more power than another, it goes on what they can do. I think mesmer has a lot of utility in general, and is pretty strong as a whole.
If we had a balance scheme based entirely on each persons opinion, nobody would ever know what to do. Patches would be around every 5 mins.
Finally, professions are balanced are lots of testing and calculations. Words like probably and stronger than my class invalidate anything productive you may have been getting at. Sorry.
The class designed to have a lot of control is strong in the single game mode where you can win just using control skills. Surprising. Who could have ever thought about that?
