Hi all fellas engineers,
I wanted to make a build up for a bunker-ish engineer, hard to kill and able to dish a lot of sustained damage, but also with a lot of cleansing and healing capabilities.
So:
- Armor = Full apothecary, 6x Superior rune of the Undead;
- Trinkets = Full carrion amulet, earrings and rings;
- Weapons = Apothecary Pistol, Superior sigil of Corruption | Apothecary Shield, Superior sigil of Energy;
- Skills =
6) Med pack 7) Elixir Kit 8) Flame Turret 9) Bomb Kit 10) Supply Crate

- Traits = 0/20/30/10/10
*Firearms for the increased condition damage and lowered CDs on Pistol and Elixir gun skills;
*Inventions for Elixir-infused Bombs (healing on bombs), Cloaking Device(invisibility on immobilize- though this one may be replaced with something else) and Power Shoes for a better kiting;
*Alchemy for Invigorating Speed, as we will equip kits very frequently – this means swiftness (as for the Invention traits) AND Vigor;
*Gadgets for Speedy Kits, for more swiftness and more kiting.

As you may imagine, this build revolves around kiting the enemy and spamming conditions on him, while evading the attacks thanks to the endurance gain from traits and the sigil. The Flame Turret is a nice asset since the smoke field sinergizes well with the one from Smoke Bomb. We’ll have some blast finishers at hand, a block, some interrupts and even a reflect.

DO NOT take this build as the Holy Grail – I’m here to ask your help to make it perfect, flaming and useless criticism are most of the times useless.

I don’t like apothecary with elixir infused bombs. If you’re spamming bombs for the heal, you’ll mostly be using skill 1, which does a lot of direct damage, and needs points in explosives and firearms to even start with conditions. If you’re not using bomb 1 as often, you’re probably better off spending those points in alchemy instead, for things like protection injection, automated response, and backpack regenerator.

My first suggestion (and request) is to use gw2skills.net. Link us the build from there, it’s much easier to look at.

Sins is right, bombs #1 hits hard. However, if you want to be bunker let’s assume you’re getting some stat combo with Healing Power. Cleric’s gear hit’s like a WET NOODLE even with bombs. You won’t kill anything. If you truly want to be able to keep the pressure up you have to run condition damage. This is because to get good damage you only need one stat: Condition Damage. If you went for direct damage you need Power and Precision at a minimum, likely Crit Damage as well. There just isn’t enough room for all of those in a bunker build. It’s best to just try and do Condition Damage IMO. You have lots of burning with bombs, good Confusion spike if you bring pistol/tool kit, Elixir Gun auto, etc.

You have a good basis though. This is what I would probably start with if I wanted to start testing:

Of course go with exotics or cheaper food if you need to while testing. This gives you a very tanky build that still has respectable Condition Damage for pressure. You’ve got decent cleansing with Healing Turret and Elixir Gun, but not great. You’re good when you get to 25% health though as you won’t have trouble with conditions then. You could use Elixir C if you really want cleanses that badly, or trait Cleansing Formula in place of Automated Response.

You have a lot of blast finishers here. If you want to apply a lot of pressure use them for Might in your fire field. Usually you’ll probably be using them in your water field from the turret. You could also use one in a smoke field for escape/confusing people.

if you run elixir infused bombs, you can’t deal damage. you invested too many trait points into a defensive tree, and a lackluster tree at that. you won’t beat anyone even remotely competent. scrap healing bombs and go for more offense or commit to a full bunker. or go full alchemy instead of inventions. it’s a way better defensive tree.

like most turrets, flame turret is bad. don’t use it. tool kit, flamethrower, rocket boots, elixir s, elixir r are all better choices.

if you’re gonna be running bombs, you should at least get 10 into explosives for the bigger radius. if you don’t, then you won’t receive healing as you’re running because the radius is too small.

if you build for conditions and you want to deal damage, you need incendiary powder. you need it.

with your gear setup, scavenging runes will give you more condition damage than undead and the lifesteal helps a lot with sustain.

if you run speedy kits, you don’t need power shoes. cloaking device isn’t that great. stabilized armor, protective shield, or reinforced shield are better options.
