Need help with WvW roaming build
gw2skills isnt working for me at the moment, but i can recommend trying out:
invent 232
alch 221
scrap 212
with as much marauder as you can get your hands on (armor, weapon, amulet generally) with zerk to fill the rest.
durability runes, sigil of air/strength/cleansing (pick 2).
hammer, healing turret, bulwark, blast, elixir gun, sneak.
swap eg to toolkit and sneak to mortar when you happen to find yourself by a zerg for a bit better range and utility that isnt needed for roaming.
its pretty easy to get the hang of and based on the (old) pvp meta build, meant for sustaining in fights while putting out tons of damage, which translates well to the kind of gameplay you encounter while roaming.

It really depend on your 2 mates and what/how you intend to engage IMO. I would not recommend a hammer if the other two are full ranged, unless you will be the dedicated brawler (in which case I would say use something much tougher than zerker). If everyone is ranged and you intend to engage considerably larger groups, then p/p condi/hybrid win the sustain game.
If you run 3 scrappers definetly use rr/fs on all three and 4-5 gyros. Trust me, its a kittenton of fun and your screen will be sparkling with ligthning fields and swearing enemies.

Thank you!! GW2skills is back up and I put it in a template. Just double checking on the toughness level. Only getting toughness from durability runes……is that enough? Just want to make sure before I start getting gear together. Thanks for your help!!!

BTW armor is at 2239
it isnt enough for front line but you have enough active defenses for it to be fine for roaming and it does huge damage, but of course being squishy can take some practice.

Yay, it’s my build xD
For roaming, medic gyro isn’t as good as healing turret. Usually I’d take healing turret because of condis. :S
Elixir S you can also ditch because you don’t need that much invuls in small scales typically. Usually self regulating defenses is good enough. What you want to replace is strictly up to you, but typically you’ll have to use it to stop being kited. I would go with a gyro of your choice and also take final salvo. Also consider rapid regeneration if you do that. Toolkit can be a thing, since sneak + pull is pretty cheesy.
I feel sneak gyro is the superior as it makes it harder for the enemy to anticipate your moves; as well as trolling thieves to all hell with the toolbelt. It really depends on what your friends are up to— you can still mortar if your friends have good CC and could stealth you.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Honestly after a solid week of playing scrapper I think it’s probably the most boring classes I’ve played to date. Perhaps I’m doing it wrong. But gyro’s are pretty weak and easily countered. So those are useless. You have to run maximum invulns with the extreme amount of chain cc’s and rat wells. This severely limits any build diversity and any dynamic skill play. Really disappointed that a class with a high skill cap has been reduced to a static rotation in WvW.
In addition you pretty much have to run group oriented builds with the server mergers as the blobs in NA is pretty pathetic.

welcome to the life as a scrapper

ding ding ding. Base engi is still semi-viable to roam with, and the sense of accomplishment when you kill ezcheesy HoT specs is unmatched.

Because none of the base specs are total cheese either…

Do you have a suggested build I should run? I’m very new to engie so I haven’t the first clue what I should run. Metabattle isn’t very helpful either.

Not a single rated WVW build for engineer/scrapper on metabattle. That surprises me. http://metabattle.com/wiki/WvW
Metabattle effectively doesn’t have a wvw section anymore.
