Hey,

I always wanted to have a level 80 engi and especially condition damage one as all my characters are zerkers.
I want to use the 80 boost on an engi and I already have a plan to get viper pistols with magnetite shards and convert my zerk medium armor with viper gossamer insignia.
Now, the problem is that I don’t have sinister trinkets which u can get after u finish living story and some require further achievements(and I HATE living story), nor a viper amulet because I don’t like doing the hot story achievements.
Anyway, I need to also finish the living story for mastery points but it bores me a lot, i’ll probably do it sometime but right now I can aim for rampager trinkets(rabid also), and I want to know if they are viable as well in raids, WvW and if most raid groups would take me if they have seen the gear.
I know it won’t be the max damage situation but can it still be useful in it’s own way and strong?

I repeat again, viper armor + weapons with rampager/rabid(which one is better..?) trinkets(ascended ofc).

Well you have to start somewhere Almost full viper is your endgame goal, but until then it’s totally fine to just use rampager stats instead (aslong as it is not full rampager).

Rabid is bad because it has defensive stats and even worse it’s toughness. Condi engis are mainly wanted for VG, where the one with the highest toughness tanks. So you don’t want that happen to you.

The rather small loss of condition damage isn’t that terrible – the most important part is that YOU can play. But I still suggest you to take into consideration to aim for a few sinister trinkets or get viper from raids as fast as possible.

Personally, I like to use something along these lines for PvE content. I am rather cheap when it comes to food/utilities, so I just use whatever I can make or is cheapest. In addition to being cheap, I am also lazy, which is why I chose to maintain a higher condition duration minimum through runes/gear as opposed to the over-priced toxic utility consumables. Feel free to use this if you so desire, or just as a stepping stone in the right direction (for you).
