I doubt if a simple knockback when it does is good enough to justify an entire slot. After all, the recharge is what…50 seconds or something right? That’s huge. You have to look at the opportunity cost. What are you giving up? Minekit? That’s a guaranteed 27 second AoE launch. Toolkit? The 3 second block every 16 seconds can be crucial. Flamethrower? A 15 second instant knockback that also has blind on it almost as a stunbreaker.
So it’s not a question of whether or not thumber knocks back when destroyed. It’s a question of whether or not it outclasses the other utility skills.
You also have to remember that you do not have the tool belt aspect of turrets when they are out. So you use that function after it explodes for the Are knock back. I agree the turret CD is too long though, in my opinion.
If you take Accelerant-Packed Turrets, you wouldn’t really worry about turret’s durability that much, because you will explode them for the push effect before it ran out anyway.

i am using thumper turret, it knockbacks 2 times when overcharged and once destroyed, only the cd is bugging me but its fine considering those r 3 aoe knockbacks in one utility:p

It knocks back twice when overcharged? Is that part of the overcharge description?
no, it has an overcharged duration, idk how long but, i always get 2 kockbacks w the overcharge off, ofc only once if duration wears off

Could you clarify? From what I remember, it has a 3 second hit rate. Overcharging it means the next hit will be a launch right? So you’re saying it launches twice when you overcharge it? And what’s the gap between the two overcharge launches?

You’re right. Testing it in HotM gives me two launches. Very interesting! I tested the various durations and it seems to be very close to two attacks. If I active it immediately after an attack, it launches only once. But if I wait for 1 second after a regular attack, it launches twice.

well i am new to engi and asked for some build help, none helped so i made my own decap build:p it works extremely well and i had my own time to test stuff, then someone actually bumped the pve post and this helped even more, tho fractals as engineer is so much work, w the reflect turrets , used the 6/2/6/0/0 build:p
anyway thumper turret is my fav turret , i even use it in my roaming build:p
Thumper’s working well. I overcharge it immediately on deployment and squeeze two launches out of it. Then I pick it up immediately for a CD of 37 seconds. Compared to Big ol bomb with a recharge of 27 seconds, that’s not bad at all. An extra chain launch for a 10 seconds difference. Still may need to tweak a bit though. Let’s see.

Whew, I need to find some of the opponents you’re playing against! Most people I see have no trouble avoiding BoB…
And turrets are so good for decap builds because you’ll be using healing turret anyway. That’s another 20-second knockback to go with the multiple knockbacks from thumper turret, OC shot, and another 1-2 turrets or kits.
The best part about Thumper Turret imo is that it has 3 blast finishers on one slot. On my engi bunker build, I usually might stack and maintain 3000+ power, which gives me ridiculous damage while still being the most survivable person on the team.
