I can’t wait. Just makes my current build stronger. Now I don’t have to wear P/V/T gear in WvW anymore.
A combo of this stat and rabid could easily lead to 20k hp, 40 crit, nearly 2800 armor rating, and probably 1600 base condition damage. Not bad.
I think this is an awful stat combination to add to the game. Condi damage from a rabid set is hard enough to deal with, but now you can get that with the defensive strength of a soldiers set. How is that even remotely balanced?

In terms of engineers, not much will change. Our already great condition builds will become even more popular and powerful, while our mediocre glassy power builds will phased out of any form of PvP.

Well kitten, I normally use apothecary/rabid, dont want precision but more condition damage with out losing tank, I’ll get exactly whAt I want with this armour I feel the over poweredness coming already
I"m durable enough using carrion. So durable, in fact, that I’ve switched out some of my carrion gear to rampager just to get my crit rate up.
Dire stats might be useful in PVP and WvW, but for now carrion/rampager mix in a 30/10/0/30/0 is enough for me.
Great lets turn this already condi spam fest game and give them the tankiness of soldiers gear. Rip power builds for anything but pve.
I was just thinking the other day, that Anet can’t possibly put ascended armor in game yet, since that would bring condi dmg/toughness/vit stats to armors and further encourage the condi meta.

It still wont be as strong as people think. I have an hard time understanding how full rabid kills a good thief ora good ele, full dire will have even more of a problem beating competent players. condi damage alone shouldnt be enough.

I’m not really concerned about engis wearing Dire, I’ll most likely still use PVT armor with condi damage trinkets on my condi/hybrid builds.
I think atleast condi necros and rangers will become a problem.

Honestly I think you are right. This type of stat combo will likely play out better on necro than it will us. That being said I think this stat combo will be good for us but i do not really see its place. In PvE condition damage is lack luster due to stack caps and reduced duration on bosses. In sPvP (if they get these stats) then it will still leave necro condi at the top of the food chain. In WvW due to so many players running cleanse builds and melandru builds this will likely lower our DPS at a marginal amount of increased toughness and vitality. I think some players will make some deadly tank builds with this stat combo but that’s about it. It isn’t as much a game changer for us as it is necro with will scale immensely with this stat combo. IMHO you’ll get more bang from your buck with celestial. rabid, carrion, or apothecary mixed in.

I agree with necros. at least when supported. I play mine as an epidemic bot for my 5 man group and Im probably switching to the new gear. Doing that will kill my direct damage tho so Im really gonna be dependent on my buddies. Still, aoeing 17 seconds of cripple and 9 seconds of weakness while being that tanky will feel pretty good.

There’s a bright side: the more the meta is condi oriented, the more powerful Automated Responce gets.
At least in spvp.
Imagine: whole enemy team condi oriented → Automated Response text becomes: “You become invulnerable while under 25% health”.XD

As with other sets Im betting this will be PvE/WvW only, so any confirmation on if this is introduced into sPvp would be nice

I will probably still prefer carrion gear to this dire stuff as I prefer it to rabid already. It might be useful in a tank build, but it will not be the “soldier’s gear for condi builds”.
I too think the dire stuff will be more useful for necros, rangers, or maaaaaybe condi warriors, but I don’t foresee it causing large changes in engg builds. It could possibly make some new ones viable though, we’ll have to see (I don’t really have the imagination for buildcrafting, unfortunately).

The problem here is that you generalise player base, just cus someone who you faced couldnt kill you whit condition dmg you can never be sure that you wont die to conditions will fighting whit next oponent.
You have no idea how fast ppl melt under condition dmg, it sure is hard to land a hit ona thiefs but if i get just 2 seconds to land a hit i can put somany condition on my targets that they will be at their 10-20% of hp just at the begining of the fight, even just few hours ago the thief that i faced in wvw literaly melted in 5 seconds after i landed my attacks on him.
and going whit the discussion, my condition build is alredy hard hiting but i had to sacrifice alot of my survivability(vitality and toughness) for it, whit Dire gear i can regain it to the level it was before, which was considered really tanky, while not loseing any condition dmg output that i have.

I do understand how your specific build has trouble killing people with condition damage alone, as you are rely entirely on pistol and to a lesser extent tool kit to apply them, whereas it works very well with a 3 kit engineer who can utilize bomb kit and grenade kit to just continuously overwhelm an opponent with aoe conditions.
Do not take this as an affront to your build however, which is great at what it does, but please understand that full rabid has its uses and with the right build and kits is extremely powerful and will decimate good thieves and elementalists all day.
This guys build will only become more powerful with dire stats. With the right gear combo he can gain another 3k hp easily, upping his hp pool to 20k. Sure his critical rate will suffer, probably down to 30 percent, but I am sure he will still be able to overwhelm opponents with similar amounts of condi damage.

and I wasn’t talking about my engie build specifically, I do have 6 level 80 toons, all of them played regularly.
I can’t imagine any circunstances where a full rabid user will kill my elementalist, for example. I mean, ether renewal alone removes 8 conditions in 4 seconds, every 15 seconds. Even if you manage to interrupt it, there’s still a gazilion other removals and heals in the typical cantrip build… and then it’s ready again in 15 seconds.
But don’t mistake what I said as meaning I think rabid or dire is bad, because thats not at all what Im saying. Rabid is a good and I have one set on my engie and one on my necro which I use at times. Just saying it’s not as strong as people make it sound it is, it certainly has its disavantages.

That’s true, but yishi does fight an elementalist in that video who cleanses a lot of conditions, however his reapplication is so fast with bomb kit and grenade kit that the ele ends up overwhelmed. It also doesnt hurt that he has perplexity
