Q:

Hi All,

I have a question about new Holosmith. As we could saw we will be able to use lots of different types of weapons (as we will became weapon). I want to ask how it will work with Legendary weapor and it’s additons like footfalls and auras.

How it is now: I have leganrady rifle, and when i change on granades or mortar i lose my fire aura and lose my footfalls.

How it will be? Is it possible to have that aura and footfaill in any aspect of Holosmith?

Let me answer you with a question: Does Druid keep legendary weapon effects when it enters Celestial Avatar form? Does Necro or Reaper keep legendary weapon effects when they enter Death Shroud?

The point is, you make legendary weapon to take a satisfacion from visual effects during fight and movement. If engi wont have that effect, doing legendary weapon is pointless for me. It takes to much effort for nothing.

It answers your question. Visually it behaves exactly like those I mentioned. If you’re in Photon Forge Mode you don’t use the weapon → no legendary effects in Photon Forge. But feel free to wait for devs to state the obvious.

We’ve been asking for legendary effects on kits for 5 years with no change. They are implementing a mechanics similar in effects to the existing ones. You will barely see your armor skins in it. They didn’t update Necro Shroud with legendary effects, they didn’t introduce Celestial Avatar that would use legendary effects from the weapons.

Do you really think that they will spend time on this if they didn’t even make legendary weapon effects available with the kits? Don’t be naive. In the end it’s all about your choice – do you want the stat swap convenience? Do you like the skin? Get a legendary weapon. Do you want to see its effects all the time? Reroll other profession and get the legendary weapon.

But I have good news for you: There seems to be a huge possibility that kits won’t work well with the new spec so if you’ll decide to get legendary weapon, you’ll see it much often because mechanics of Holo are such that you can’t spend all time in Photon Forge if you want to be effective.

ayyy photon forge is a kit its just on the toolbelt so you can be a 6 kit engi now

…oh yeah and it overwrites your elite toolbelt so you wouldnt have been able to detonate supply crate if they hadnt changed turrets lmao

Well at least we have a special “grenade barrage” with some legendaries. It is still something more than those filthy necros

Absolutely true it’s been a problem for Engineer since the beginning of the game. Sure they removed the backpack problem but even Auras disappear when we use kits which doesn’t make sense it also doesn’t make sense that footfalls disappear in kit modes.

This and the traits should be their next major update focus.

Mortar Kit seems like the only core elite skill worth taking given the loss of the F5 skill. Certainly something to ponder.

Short answer from dev about this case will be nice.
I’m sure they know already how new Holosmith will work with legendary weapons/items.

Doing legendary items is kind of endgame for GW2. It is important for the players how dev from Anet build new spec.

Craft price for The Shining Blade cost about 3820 gold. It’s 175 $. So my question is quite valuable.

Don’t make it. Not for Holo, at least. Engie has never truly enjoyed using legendaries, because normaly kits take the major part of the playing time. So, unless you know for sure you’ll be using a kitless build with little use of the Holo Mode, don’t make a legendary sword for Engie.

Anet is NOT going to add major work to Holo Mode or other kits for legendaries only. And you will NOT get a dev answer here.

(Yes, its only my opinion. But really. Given anet-engie-legendaries history, its almost a fact.)
